Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF), acting on behalf of the City of Northglenn, invites proposals from artists (individual or teams) to design, fabricate, and install a hanging sculpture in the new Parsons Theatre lobby in Northglenn, CO. The successful proposal for the commissioned, site-specific, permanent art installation will include a portfolio of past work, details of similar projects, and an outline of the process for design, fabrication, and installation.  Proposals will be reviewed by site stakeholders including NAHF members, Northglenn residents and City staff.  The winner will be selected by January 31, 2020 and design, fabrication, and installation completed by December, 2020.

The winning artist or team will be awarded up to $135,000 to complete the project. Design, materials, fabrication, installation, travel and any other costs associated with the project incurred by artist or team, must fit within the $135,000 budget.

The artist or team will be selected based on past work and responses to questions about process. Proposals will be narrowed down to a few finalists. Finalists will be required to interview in-person or online.

The new Parsons Theatre is part of phase one of the Northglenn Civic Campus Project. Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture (BRS) and Semple Brown were hired to design the new Recreation Center, Theater and Senior Center. The facility design is complete, construction is underway with an estimated opening date of spring 2021.

The new Recreation Center, Theatre and Senior Center facility has two distinct entrances; the recreation facility on the east and a separate theatre entrance on the south. The Parsons Theatre has a large two story lobby with south facing glass windows. The large-scale sculpture will hang from the ceiling as an artistic centerpiece for the theatre. The selected artist or team will design, fabricate and install the sculpture in this location. Lighting will be included in the design, either as the sculpture being the source of light or illuminating the sculpture. The selected artist or team will coordinate closely with BRS.

All proposals, including .jpg formatted photos, must be submitted via the CaFE website. For additional information, please contact Director Michael Stricker at (303) 450-8727 or by email at mstricker@northglenn.org.
