Julie Grahame is a consultant and curator who has been in the photography industry for 30 years. Her passion is supporting photographers—whether they’re professional, semi-pro, aspiring, or hobbyists—to help them get the most out of their images, which includes helping them improve and develop their work and their presence. In 1992 she moved from London to New York to run an international photo agency representing 400+ photographers. Then, in 2006, she left and took the archive of Yousuf Karsh with her to continue clearing rights for his iconic photographs. Today she edits, writes, and publishes aCurator magazine, which was cited both by the British Journal of Photography and LIFE in their reviews of influencers and taste-makers. The Light Factory’s 12th Annuale is open to everyone. Entrants must enter 5–7 images from a specific series or body of work. Artists may submit up to two different applications. If you submit an installation, it should include only 5–7 images. Please include a short statement (no more than 150 words) about the work along with a current résumé or curriculum vitae.

All photographic techniques and approaches are welcome.

$35 non-refundable entry fee per series of 5–7 images. Artists may submit up to two applications.

Selected artists are responsible for packing (in a reusable container) and paying for the shipping and transit insurance of work to and from The Light Factory. An honorarium of $200 is awarded to accepted artists to help offset these costs. Please, no packing peanuts. Work may also be hand-delivered. All work must arrive ready to install. If the work is not gallery-ready or does not meet professional standards, it may be omitted from the exhibition. Accepted work that differs significantly from the entry images or that suffers from poor presentation will be disqualified. All work must arrive at The Light Factory by April 10, 2020. Accepted work will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. All work will be returned (or should be picked up) by August 1, 2020. Artists are responsible for all shipping and travel costs.

All work, unless indicated as not for sale [NFS], will be available for sale during the exhibition. The Light Factory will retain a commission of 40% of the listed sale price on all artwork sold during the exhibition.

Please note that if you are selected you will be asked to provide your image(s) again to The Light Factory in high resolution for publicity purposes. Additionally, information provided in this entry form will be used in publicity such as on The Light Factory website, in e-newsletters, printed gallery guides, or in other materials. You will always be given credit for your work.
