ART FLOW strives to promote professional artists from and throughout the State of Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public to experience the best of local fine art. Art Flow is a juried art exhibition where 2-D and 3-D art by Louisiana artists will be exhibited in downtown Baton Rouge from March 16 - April 5, 2020. The public is invited to view these works and vote for their favorite.
The prizes for Art Flow are the following:
JURIED: 1st Place - $5,000, 2nd Place - $2,500, 3rd Place - $1,000
People’s Choice - $2,500
ELIGIBILITY: Open to artists ages 18 or older residing in or having been born in Louisiana. Art must be original, no reproductions accepted.
The work will be juried by a panel of national and regional art curators. Winners will be announced at the Ebb & Flow Festival to be held downtown Baton Rouge April 4 - 5, 2020.
ENTRIES: Up to 3 submissions per entry, with the option of $10 per extra image for a maximum of 5 entries. Each submission must be represented by at least 1 image.
SIZE AND WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS: The maximum amount of wall space available for 2-D or 3-D artwork is 10 feet unless otherwise agreed upon by Art Flow. No artist is guaranteed the maximum space, regardless of the dimensions listed by the artist. Sculptural submissions will be considered on a case-by-case basis but generally need to be limited to works that are less than 50 pounds if the artist will not be present for installation.
SALES: Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge will take a 33% commission on all works sold. Artists must include this commission when determining their market value/selling price. The price submitted during application must be the price listed at the event.
PREPARATION OF WORK: All accepted entries must be ready for gallery installation. Two-dimensional works must be framed or gallery wrapped and all work must be finished to museum quality. All works must have proper hanging hardware installed. Three-dimensional work must be ready for gallery installation or if outdoor work, must be able to withstand inclement weather and change in temperature. All pieces that require assembly will be accepted only if the artist is responsible for assembling the pieces personally or if the artist hires a qualified individual to assemble the pieces. Artist is responsible for all assembly of work outside of installation. Pieces not ready for gallery installation and pieces that are not representative of submitted images are subject to rejection.
SELECTION OF WORKS: The pieces submitted will be presented blindly and independently to a jury. This pool may consist of both national and regional art professionals such as museum curators or recognized members of the art community who do not directly represent artists eligible to participate in the show. Each submission will be ranked on a scale of 1- 7 by each juror and then cumulatively ranked based upon overall ranking by all jurors. The number of pieces to hang in the show will then be determined by availability of space.
