Awards include: first, second and third place in each category, along with Best of Show and People's Choice.

Up to 3 entries may be submitted by an individual.  A non-refundable $35 entry fee is required.  Fees may be paid via credit card on CaFE TM or check made payable to the City of Lone Tree and mailed to: Lone Tree Arts Center, c/o Photo Show, 10075 Commons Street, Lone Tree, CO. 80124.

Presentation

All images must be delivered framed (ie. canvas wrap, metal, acrylic, wood, floating or other frame) and ready to hang. Framing must meet gallery quality standards - no large imperfections, no sagging canvas.  Frames must be undamaged and reinforced with hardware AND picture hanging wire.  If you provide a piece of artwork with no wire, it will be turned away as it will not be suitable to hang with our Arakawa Hanging System.  We ask that the wire be taut, not loose and adequately secured. Plaque board and Plexiglas are also acceptable.  Glass clips for framing are NOT acceptable. Framed, finished images must not weigh more than 35lbs or exceed 48x48" framed.  A label must be attached to the back of the image, identifying artist, title, category and price.  Entries not meeting specifications will be turned away.

Sales and Bin Work

All images invited to the show must be for sale.  The Lone Tree Arts Center will conduct sales at the Box Office and retain 20% commission on all sales.  Accepted photographers may sell Bin Work at the opening reception ONLY.  You may bring your own bin or use one of ours, they will be made available on a first come first serve basis. Exploring the Light catalogues listing artist contact and sales information will be available to the public throughout the photo show.  Images may not be removed before the end of the Photo Show.

Exploring the Light - Photo Show Book for Purchase

With the photographer's permission, the Lone Tree Photo Club will compose a book with accepted entries representing Exploring the Light 2020.  Accepted images will be printed with the photographer's name and information about the image such as location, camera and the story behind the image.  If you would like to participate, you must select yes and complete the 4 questions during the application process.  Exploring the Light book will be available for viewing and purchase online after the close of the show in June.

2020 Juror

Erik Holladay-McCann

Erik Holladay-McCann, the owner and lead photographer of Holladay Photography. Holladay launched his own studio in Michigan in 2009, after leaving the press corps following 25 incredible years as a photojournalist, a career that he broke into at the (now unbelievable) age of 14. Combining his passion for storytelling and documentary-style photography with his creative aesthetic derived from a bold cinematic standpoint in his photographs is something he truly loves and is privileged to do as a career.

Visual storytelling is his ultimate goal for any of his photographs. that method has since served him well in his private endeavors, especially with portrait photography and wedding photography. He thrives on the challenge of finding those fleeting moments in everyday life that demand to be captured and crafted into a work of art. When done well, it's something that can transcend genre and pull the viewer in deeper.

Holladay has won numerous awards in journalism and wedding photography. He won the Associated Press award for Photo of the century in 1998 and was named 2002 Clip Photographer of the year by the National Press Photographers Association. He has been published in numerous newspapers across the nation including The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The San Francisco Chronicle. He has also been published in magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Newsweek, The Sporting News, Shutter Magazine, Encore Magazine, and Outdoor Photography.

He recently was in the top 100 of wedding photographs for the 2019 Shoot and Share Photo Contest, received first place for Engagement Photography in the 2015 Shutterfest Photo Competition, and has been awarded numerous Merits in Wedding and Engagement photography for the Professional Photographers Association.
