Light is a key element in a successful and evocative piece of art. The sun is the source of all life. We are all familiar with beautiful images of sunrises and sunsets, but how about artwork that explores the varying and sometimes dramatic effects of sunlight in an image or scene in unexpected and moving ways? 

R Gallery invites artists to submit their original artwork for the “Exploring Sunlight” exhibit with these ideas in mind. We are looking for work that explores the impact, implications, and effects of sunlight beyond more typical representations of the rising and setting sun - work that examines the light of the sun as a principal character or force in the piece. Of course, sunsets and sunrise images may be accepted. However, we are more intrigued by pieces that are dynamically inventive and unique in their interpretation and use of the light of the sun.

The show runs from March 3 - March 29, and is open to Colorado artists working in all mediums.

 

R Gallery's goal is to create exhibits that showcase the many different styles of Colorado's talented artists. You are welcome to submit multiple images, however we normally select only one piece from each selected artist. If submitting fewer than three artworks, you will need to fill in the remaining required entries with duplicate images (i.e. submit your first entry twice).

The show is run from March 3 - March 29, 2020, and is open to all mediums.

Eligibility: Colorado Residents. All entries must be of original design and personal execution.

Size: It is best to submit pieces less than 30" wide, including frame or case. We only have a few spots for pieces up to 48" wide.

Shipping: Accepted works must arrive no later than March 1. Work will be returned by April 15, 2020 unless otherwise agreed upon. A prepaid return label must be provided if sending the work by carrier.

Sales: All sales will be handled through R Gallery. A 50% commission will be charged. All pieces must remain up for the duration of the exhibition and must be for sale. R Gallery reserves the right to sell accepted works online during the exhibition. R Gallery will send checks to the artist for the sale of their work by the 15th of the month following the month in which the sale occurs.
