UMPQUA VALLEY ARTS PRESENTS

INTERSECTIONS: explores the convergence of human invention, society, culture and the natural world

A juried Art Show

Prospectus

Umpqua Valley Arts Association is proud to present an open call for artists to submit work to our upcoming exhibit titled: INTERSECTIONS. This juried exhibit explores the convergence of human invention, society, culture and the natural world.

Humans have been inventing new technologies since the beginning of time however; there has been a significant increase in the rate of new technological development in the last few hundred years. These changes, while often beneficial, have a wide range of effects on human society, culture and the natural environment. With this exhibition we seek to emphasize these effects and hope to see a wide range of perspectives highlighting the promise as well as the cost of technology - not only Utopian visions and apocalyptic nightmares but also nuanced and subtle interpretations of the theme. Areas for consideration include but are not limited to futurism, social media, computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, medicine, space exploration, energy, the environment, and the practice and process of art making itself.

Open to all media including photography, printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed-media, audio, and video.

May 15 - June 28, 2020
