The R.G. Endres Gallery annual Art of Photography competition is held every year during the month of April with a gala reception this year on Friday, April 10th, 2020.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to all photographers, 18 years of age or older, whose submitted works are created with a camera, independent of any supervision.

Awards:
Three "Best of Catagory" awards at $500.00 and six "Honorable Mention" awards at $200.00.

  1. Porttraits and People
  2. Landscapes and Architecture
  3. Abstract / non-traditional / photo-collage/ highly digitally enhanced.
Any image that does not fit clearly into the first 2 categories will be put into the 3rd category.

2020 Show Timeline:
     Submissions Open:        Tuesday, January 21st, 2020
     Submissions Deadline:    Tuesday, February 18th, 2020
     Initial selection by Juror: Thursday, February 20th, 2020
     Notification of Finalist:     Friday, February 28th, 2020
     Deadline for receipt of shipped works:  Thursday, March 26th, 2020
     Deadline for receipt of hand deliverd works: Friday March 27th, 2020
     Exhibit installation:           Saturday, April 4th, 2020
     Adjudication of awards:    Monday, April 6th, 2020
     Awards Gala:                    Friday, April 10th, 2020
     Show removal:                  Saturday, May 2nd, 2020

ENTRY DETAIL
Fifteen entries are allowed, mix or match categorys.  Artists may enter all three catagories but only one entry per catagory per artist will be accepted for the show. ( It is possible for one artist to have three works in the show. One in each category.) Entry fee for one image is $25.00, each additional image is $5.00.  Fees are non-refundable. A diptych or triptych can be submitted as one entry as long as it meets the same requirements as a single entry and is photographed as one entry during submission. The final round of adjudication will be after installation of the show. Only the actual piece will be adjudicated in the final round. Late pieces will not be considered.

Accepted artwork must be matted. The mat must fit into a standard size frame: 11" X 14", 16" X 20", 20" X 24", or 12" X 36". A diptych or tritych must fit into one frame. Framed pieces will not be accepted. Frames will be provided.

The Sales Commission to the Gallery is 40%. All work MUST be for sale . Prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after submission to the show is made.

Receipt of work: 
Matted images can be delivered by hand or can be sent to the Prairie Village Arts Council, 7700 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208 between March 23rd, 2020 and March 26th, 2020. Mailed works must include a postage paid return label. Any mailed works that do not include a postage paid return label will not be returned.  If artists fails to deliver their accepted work to the gallery, they will forfeit their right to be in the 2020 show and will not be considered for the exhibit in the following 2 years. Hand delivered images accepted in the show and not sold, are to be picked up on Saturday, May 2nd, 2020, during the hours of 9AM till noon only. Any Artwork unclaimed 30 days after the date of exhibition closing will become property of the Prairie Village Arts Council. Mailed works will be sent back Tuessday, May 5th 2020. Any mailed work not containing a prepaid return label will become the property of the Prairie Village Arts Council.

Our 2020 Juror:
Laura Hurcomb

As a professional photographer, visual artist, and academic instructor Laura Hurcomb is a story teller that uses multiple platforms to explore identity, perception, ancestry, dreamscapes, intimacy, and the natural world. Born in Los Angeles, California, USA to Parents at odds of diverse backgrounds which still feeds into her work. She received her BFA in Studio Art, Fiber from the Kansas City Art Institute, an MA in Studio art, Photography from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Currently, She works as an instructor in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
