CAPE PLAYHOUSE COVER ART COMPETION 2020

Theme: SUMMER PLAY

The Cape Cod Museum of Art (CCMoA) and the Cape Playhouse have teamed up to offer an exciting opportunity for visual artists across the country and abroad. Based on a sampling of works submitted by each entrant, five visual artists, graphic designers and/or illustrators will be selected to then create their vision for the cover of the 2020 Cape Playhouse Program. One of the covers will be selected and featured prominently “center stage” on the cover of the 2020 Cape Playhouse Program Cover with a circulation of 35,000, along with other prestigious honors, awards and exhibition opportunities at the Cape Playhouse and the Cape Cod Museum of Art.

This competition is divided into two rounds:

Round 1) Artwork must be digitally submitted to Call For Entry by March 16, 2020. Up to three examples of your work that demonstrate proficiency in creating an uplifting narrative with the theme of “Summer Play” in mind. Entrants will also be considered as finalists based on their ability to engage the viewer with clear, clever and creative messaging. The directors, curators and administrators from the Cape Playhouse and the Cape Cod Museum of Art will serve as jurors in this first round to narrow the pool down to Five Finalists. Notifications will be sent out to all enterants on March 18, 2020

Round 2) To be considered by jurors, Finalists must have their artwork to the CCMoA by April 24, 2020. Finalists will be asked to create ONE original work that expresses their vision for the 2020 Cape Playhouse Program Cover with an aspect ratio of 15 x 11 or 17 x 9 to fit the proportions of the Program Cover. The theme for 2020 is "Summer Play". A panel of three well-known jurors (TBA) will select one winner and announce their selection on May 1, 2020 at a VIP Event with all finalists work on display at the Cape Cod Museum of Art as part of ArtWeek, a statewide creative festival. A promotional press release with information on each finalist and an image of their final submission will be distributed to our media resources. The winner of this competition will have their artwork featured on the cover of 35,000 Cape Playhouse Program Covers over the course of the 2020 summer season. The winner of this competition will also receive a $500 cash award, an annual subscription to the Cape Playhouse 2020 season (6 shows), and two VIP tickets to the annual gala auction benefits at both institutions.

All five finalists will receive:

1.     Opportunities to exhibit their final submission at the CCMoA and/or the Cape Playhouse.

2.     Recognition on our websites, social media and in the Playhouse Program.

3.     Four tickets to the VIP reveal event on May 1st at the Cape Cod Museum of Art.

4.     50% of the proceeds from the sale of their final submission artwork slated for auction at the Annual Benefit Gala at the Cape Playhouse on July 12th or the CCMoA on August 15th and the artists will receive 50% of the auction selling price.

5.     Family Memberships to the CCMoA
