Art League of Hilton Head invites you to enter the 2021 Biennale, its 27th National Juried Exhibition, held every other year across multiple media types including; Oil or Acrylic, Pastel, Watermedia, Photography, Mixed Media, Three-Dimensional, or All Other. Over $5000 in cash prizes will be awarded. All accepted works of art selected by three jurors will be on display at Art League Gallery inside the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The prize winners will be chosen by the prestigious juror, Marc Hanson. This state of the art gallery provides the finest exhibit space with high tourist and community visibility.

The 27th Biennale Judge is Marc Hanson, a nationally known, award-winning landscape artist currently based on Tybee Island, near Savannah Georgia. He is a Master Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America (O.P.A.M.) having won awards of excellence over numerous years at the OPA National Exhibit, including a Bronze Medal for Painting Excellence in 2011. He has also placed four times in The Pastel Journal's 'Pastel 100' competition, among many other prestigious awards throughout his career. Hanson has been published in national art publications, including being featured on the covers of Plein Air and Southwest Art Magazine, and in the book "Oil Painting Secrets With The Masters," by Cindy Salaski. His work has been shown in museums and galleries throughout the United States and abroad and can be found in both private and public collections. In addition to painting, Hanson teaches landscape workshops both in-studio and en plein air, locally and around the country. 


Art League of Hilton Head reserves the right to make alternative exhibition arrangements including virtual awards reception and online exhibition/ sale as government orders may dictate.

SUBMISSIONS:
All entries will be juried from a digital image. Each artist may enter up to three pieces of original artwork created within the last three years and never accepted into an Art League of Hilton Head juried show before. Only one piece of art per artist will be accepted into the show.

This exhibition is open to US artists, 18 years or older.

All information provided on the original entry as to title, size and price will be accepted as final. No changes may be made once accepted into the show.

All exhibited work must be for sale and priced with intent to sell. A 40% commission to Art League of Hilton Head Island, Inc. will be retained on all sales that occur during the show, or as a result of the show.

Entries must be original in concept, composition, and execution. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor is not eligible. Artwork must not be copied in part or wholly from any published or copyrighted work. Giclées are not acceptable. Jewelry art will not be accepted in this exhibit.
Any entry considered offensive or not meeting exhibition criteria may be rejected by the Exhibition Committee at its sole discretion.

PREPARATION FOR EXHIBITION:
All works must be quality framed and protected by Plexiglas where appropriate. Only pastel pieces may be covered with glass. Each piece should be securely wired and ready for hanging. Pieces may not exceed 48”(length)x60”(height) including the frame or weigh more than 50 pounds.

Although pieces up to 48”x60” are acceptable, shipping pieces over 130” in overall dimension may be very costly. Check with your local shipping agent for charges and details.

Sculptures and other three-dimensional art must not exceed 48” horizontal and 60” vertical or weigh more than 50 pounds. Freestanding sculptures should not need special mounting. Small works may be enclosed in a clear plastic case. Bas-reliefs must be wired for hanging.

If your entry is accepted, you will receive further instructions via callforentry.org regarding shipment or hand-delivery of your work with your notification. Shipped artwork will require a $20 handling and storage fee paid to Art League of Hilton Head and a prepaid return shipping label upon receipt of the artwork.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF AWARDS:
Art League of Hilton Head will host an Awards Reception for artists, sponsors, Art League members, and the general public on May 7, 2021. Art League of Hilton Head reserves the right to host a virtual reception if government mandates prohibit large gatherings.
