Call for Entry – Innuendo: Suggestive Jewelry
Show us your pics: Arcana Metalwork Gallery is seeking submissions of suggestive jewelry. Artists are encouraged to use humor, double entendre, and creatively oblique references to sex and sexuality. Submissions may include any media, but must be in the format of jewelry. Entries will be considered on the merit of concept as well as execution of craftsmanship.

About the Gallery: Arcana Metalwork Gallery is a pocket gallery within the ’57 Biscayne Artist Studios, in the historic Good Arts Building in downtown Pioneer Square, Seattle, WA. The gallery is made possible in part by a grant from the Seattle Metals Guild; it is a project to bring a venue for contemporary jewelry exhibitions to the downtown Seattle gallery district.
Timeline:
Feb 14 – Call Opens
Mar 15 – Deadline for Submissions
Mar 21-22 – Jury meets
Mar 31 – Notification letters sent
Apr 17 – Artwork must be received by Gallery
Apr 18 & 19 – Show installed
Apr 24 - 26 – Seattle Erotic Art Festival, special festival hours
June 5th – last day of exhibition
June 6-7 – artwork available for pickup
Submissions and Fees:
- Artists may submit up to three (3) works for consideration. Artists must also submit a brief artist bio and statement about their submissions.
- Submission Fee: $30.
- Works valued over $5,000 cannot be accepted; overly-fragile or delicate works also cannot be accepted.
- All entries must be submitted by March 15, 2020 11:59 PM Mountain Time. No extension will be given.
Presentation: This is primarily a jewelry exhibition, and we are anticipating works on a typical jewelry scale. Space is limited; larger works will only be accepted as space allows.
Maximum Size: 12”x12”x12”
Maximum Weight: 15 lbs.
Shipping/Insurance: Artists will be responsible for delivery of their artwork; when possible, hand delivery is preferred. Receiving hours are M-F 10am – 4pm; or by special arrangements. The artist assumes all responsibility for insuring artwork against shipping damage or loss.
All artworks will be insured while on gallery premise.
Artist will be responsible for return shipping and insurance of any pieces not sold during the exhibition. Gallery will be responsible for the delivery of any sold work to the purchaser.
Sales/Commissions: Works listed for sale will be sold at a 70/30 commission (the artist will retain 70% of any piece sold). The price represented on the artist entry form will be the sale price. Arcana Metalwork will collect and remit all applicable sales tax.
Artwork submitted does not have to be for sale; any work not for sale must be clearly marked “NFS.” Artwork cannot be withdrawn, nor sales shipped, before the end of the exhibit.
Entry Agreement: By submitting work, artist agrees to the terms of this prospectus. An artist contract will be sent upon notification of work(s) accepted; completed contracts must be included with work delivered to the gallery.
