EXPOSURE: The 23rd Annual PRC Juried Exhibition

Juror: Makeda Best, Richard L. Menschel Curator of Photography at Harvard Art Museums

Deadline for Submission: May 8, 2020

The PRC invites entries for EXPOSURE: The 24nd Annual PRC Juried Exhibition and seeks a broad range of exhibition-ready bodies of work, including both traditional and non-traditional approaches to photography. Since its inception in 1996, more than 300 photographers have shown in PRC juried exhibitions, including an array of established photographers and those cited as “ones to watch.”  Each year, a respected member of the photographic community—from curators to gallerists to photo editors—is asked to select between 10 to 15 artists for exhibition. The juror then selects between 2 and 4 pieces per person, thus offering artists the opportunity to showcase a series at a deeper level than most juried shows and making for an enriching experience for audiences as well.

EXPOSURE 2020:
While the summer is still very uncertain we are hoping for a fall that brings us back to one another without social distancing. Worcester State University has graciously invited us to install EXPOSURE 2020 in the Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery and we are delighted to bring the exhibition to their venue from mid-October through mid-March. Applicants will be notified of details as they solidify.

SUBMISSION DETAILS:
You must be a current member of the Photographic Resource Center through July 31, 2020, in order to enter Exposure 2020. Membership payment is processed through the PRC website (http://prcboston.org/get-involved/membership/). PRC Board members are not eligible to apply to the PRC Juried Exhibitions.

Entry Fee: $30 ~ Photographers may submit 6 images from a cohesive, exhibition-ready body of work, checklist information, artist statement, and resume.

Submission deadline: May 8th, 2020 (before 11:59pm)

Follow all instructions provided by CaFÉ for preparing your images, checklist, statement, resume, etc. Complete guidelines can be found here: www.callforentry.org/image_prep.phtml. Incorrectly formatted or corrupted files will not be reviewed.

If the jurors select you to participate in EXPOSURE, your framed and ready-to-hang photographs and/or new media work must be available for display during the time scheduled for the exhibition, TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR July 8 − August 16, 2020 (with work due to the PRC in mid-June), more detailed information on dates, location, and logistics will be sent if selected.

You are required to adhere to all published schedules, specifications, and guidelines.

IF YOU ARE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE:
Selected and non-selected artists will be notified through CaFÉ via email. We expect notifications to go out by June 1st. No phone calls please.

Selected artists are responsible for packing (in a reusable container; we recommend bubble wrap and absolutely no peanuts) and arranging for delivery and retrieval to the exhibition space, and artists are responsible for any shipping costs and transit insurance of works to AND from the PRC in a timely manner (see above approximate shipping deadlines). If work is being shipped prior arrangements must be made with the PRC.

Artists must be available to provide help with unique installations and/or supply any special hardware and/or specific instructions if required for proper installation. The PRC reserves the right to refuse works whose quality is not reflected in the submission materials and will not hang works that are defective.

The PRC requests 30% commission from any work sold during the exhibition. A loan form agreement will be sent once selected and works finalized.

MORE ABOUT EXPOSURE:
EXPOSURE is a great opportunity to view a slice of the best and brightest as selected by a nationally-renowned juror. In celebration of the PRC's 30th anniversary in the 2006/2007 academic year and to reflect more accurately the mission and function of our annual photography competition, we changed the name of the PRC Members' Exhibition to EXPOSURE: The Annual PRC Juried Exhibition.

ABOUT THE PRC:
Founded in 1976, the Photographic Resource Center (PRC) is an independent forum for the exploration and interpretation of new work, ideas, and methods in photography and related media. The PRC provides lectures, exhibitions, programs, and special events to our members and the general public. We are an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
