The12th Annual "Art for Alaskas Parks 2020" is a competition designed to celebrate the beauty of Alaska by showcasing representational artists, while enhancing the public awareness of Alaska's publicc accessible recreational areas.
Mediums accepted: Oils, Watercolor, Acrylic, Gouache, Alkyd, Tempera, Mixed-Media, Pencil, Charcoal, Pastels, Pen & Ink, Alcohol Inks, Encaustic and Cold Wax.
The subject matter eligible for the competition must be 2 dimensional, representational art work that depicts the places or things to be found in Alaska’s any municipal, borough, village, State and Federal parks, recreational areas, forests, historical sites, preserves, marine parks, wildlife refuges, sanctuaries, ranges and critical habitat areas that are open to the public, wthin the state of Alaska.
Deadline for digital submissions this year is August 21, 2020. The awards ceremony will take place Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at Stephan Fine Arts Gallery inside the Hotel Captain Cook, Anchorage. The Top 30 finalist and winning works will stay on display for viewing until October 31st. We want you to be among the artists in this year’s show.

Subject Eligibility
The only restriction is that the subject can not be within a private or corporation owned, fee based, or member based accessible area.Subject matter is to come from locations that are available to everyone and not just a few. We use “park” as a general term to include all these areas.

Criteria for Art
Judges will be looking for a variety of artistic interpretations, visual impact, creativity, composition design, and craftmanship. Entries will be evaluated on the artistic merit
and the artist’s ability to capture the essence of and appreciation for the chosen subject. Landscapes, fish or wildlife, and/or historic events and elements must accurately convey the artist’s designated location.
Each image entry must have::
Title, Price, and Description of location and inspiration.
