COVID 19 GUIDELINES.

At the present time, the Lubbock Arts Alliance has decided to proceed forward with taking artist applications for the Local Color Studio Tour, November 14-15, 2020. A final decision about whether to have the event will be made by September 15, 2020. Reasons for cancellation could include, but are not limited to, the resurgence of COVID-19, governmental regulations (such as no mass gatherings, shelter-in-place rules, etc.), or lack of participation by artists and/or host studios.

Based upon responses from the 2019 host studios, it appears that the maximum number of artists that can accepted into this year’s event is twenty-five (25); however, that number may change based upon what studios apply and what studios are juried in. Usually we have 40-45 artists participate each year.

There will be a juror and all artists who want to participate must apply for acceptance.  Juror fees will not be refundable because these monies will be used to pay for his/her services. The cost to apply is $20.

Further to save on the juror’s travel expense, studios will be automatically accepted if the artist/owner’s work is juried into Studio Tour and if their space has been a host studio in the past.

The cost for artists to participate will be $250 or $200 for host studios (this is an increase of $50). Participation fees will be refunded if Studio Tour is cancelled. However, there will be no refund if an artist decides to withdraw for any reason.

Since grant funds are unavailable, only artist participation fees will be spent on costs associated with facilitating Studio Tour thereby limiting the budget for costs usually associated with the event. Priorities for marketing dollars will be: 1.) website 2.) online advertising 3.) direct mailer (like a postcard) 4.) other (i.e. posters, radio, newspaper, etc.). Please note there will be no full color brochure which features each individual artist. Further, the Arts Alliance cannot guarantee that accepted artist’s work will appear in any marketing materials. All participating artists are expected help promote the event through their own channels.
