Qualifications are requested from local artists interested in proposing artwork for the interior of a largescale healthcare facility: Bronson Healthcare Cancer Pavilion. There is opportunity for a variety of wall-mounted media, ceiling suspended installation, and outdoor sculpture at various budget levels.

Successful applications will include a portfolio of past work, details of similar projects, pricing information, and an outline of the process for design, fabrication and installation (if applicable). 

Please review the guidelines below.  The following types of artwork will be considered:

Media
  • Wall-mounted sculpture (ceramic, wood, metal, glass) - cannot project off wall more than 4”
  • Fine art photography – needs to be able to print at image size 23” x 23” or larger.  If provided a digital file, Art Expressions can print (image files must be at least 150 dpi).  Horizontal pieces should have a minimum dimension of 35” x 23.”
  • Oil or acrylic on canvas – minimum size 30” x 30”.  Unstretched preferred, but we will consider pre-stretched pieces.  Horizontal, square, and vertical orientations will be considered.
  • Fine art on paper (watercolor, acrylic, pastel ink, pen, etc.) – minimum image size 23” x 23” unframed.  Wall-mounted fiber panels are also acceptable.  Horizontal pieces should have a minimum dimension of 35” x 23.”
  • Ceiling suspended sculptural artwork for 2 story space (Must have previous portfolio of ceiling suspended work).
  • Outdoor sculpture – freestanding (to fit within 9’ diameter) or wall mounted (appropriately sized for 6’ h x 16’w space).

  • Prefer utilization of natural colors like greens, blues, yellows, oranges.  Avoid very dark colors and concentrated amounts of red in efforts to be as uplifting as possible.
Submission Requirements
  • Artists must include their current location with proximity to southwest Michigan. We are seeking artists with a range of ethnic, religious, social, and economic backgrounds that reside within a 60 mile range of Kalamazoo, MI.
  • Artist must be able to ship or deliver the artwork to Art Expressions in Gurnee, IL, unless it is a sculptural piece.  We would then discuss logistics for delivery to the project site.
  • Art Expressions may mat and frame artwork.  Art Expressions will install artwork (sculptures will need to be evaluated based on installation method). 
  • All art will be reviewed by Art Expressions for project suitability and we reserve the right to accept or reject any submission at our discretion.
  • If an artist does not currently have a piece that fits the size of these locations, they can provide examples of their work and state that they are available for commission requests.
  • Project install is projected for December 2020, except for outdoor sculptures, which will be installed Spring 2021.
