·         Any artwork not received at the Gallery by the deadline of 5:00 pm on (date), will not be included in the show.

PLEASE NOTE: If an accepted artist does not deliver their piece for the show, they will not be eligible to be included in Fresh Ideas Exhibition the next year.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS:

1.      Include on the callforentry.org application:

a.       After the TITLE of your work on your application, include the type of medium

Example: "STILL LIFE – Digital Photography" or "STILL LIFE – Charcoal on Paper"

(Due to the wide range of mediums that are allowed, this information will help the Juror when viewing each of the online

          submitted images).

2.      2D works submitted for inclusion in exhibits, intended to be hung on walls, must look professionally finished and be ready for secure installation.

a.       Framed pieces must be equipped with d-rings attached to the back and stretched with wire. *Sawtooth hangers or uniframes are not acceptable. Please tape wire ends to prevent injury to the hanging committee.

b.      Wires, when stretched to hang the picture, should not come closer than two inches from the top of the frame, to prevent the hanger from showing when the picture is hung.

c.       Plexiglas, or similar material must be used for any piece larger than 16"x20." NO GLASS.

d.      2D pieces may not be larger than 60 in either dimension, including the frame if any

e.       Diptychs, triptychs, or other multiple piece works constitute one piece, and must be no wider than 60” when hung together.

f.        Pieces that are hung may not be over 50 lbs. in weight.

3.      Any pieces – including sculpture – which are very fragile or very heavy, the artist will be expected to assist with their installation.

4.      Hanging canvas pieces should have clean, gallery-wrapped canvas edges or be framed. Depth of canvas determines the finish:

a.       1" or greater depth - A clean finished edge, or gallery-wrapped

b.      Less than 1" depth - Frame required

5.      Photographs must be matted and framed. Gallery wrapped canvas is accepted for photography but must meet the same requirements as the paintings (see previous line). Photographs cannot be on metal or acrylic.

6.      All 3D artwork must be able to rest securely on a pedestal—no larger than 20” X 14, on the floor, or be safely hung on the wall by a wire.

7.      The juror has the right to reject any submitted work during the jury process. There are no refunds.

8.      ALL ACCEPTED WORKS MUST REMAIN ON EXHIBIT FOR THE DURATION OF FRESH IDEAS SHOW.

9.      The gallery is owned by the city of Lewisville and is considered family-friendly, so no explicit nudity, confrontational political, or disrespectful religious images allowed.

10.  It is REQUIRED that the artists that are accepted sit the Gallery for one half day during the exhibit. For artists living outside the immediate area, Curator will coordinate with the artist an acceptable substitution.

*VAL reserves the right to reject any accepted work if: It does not look professionally presented, large framed pieces have glass, or it is not properly wired and ready for installation. NO EXEPTIONS!
