Artists are invited to submit original artwork for the “Circles and Squares” exhibit to be held at the R Gallery in Boulder, Colorado. In this exhibit, we are seeking artwork in all styles and mediums that incorporates the shapes of circles and/or squares. The show will run from December 8, 2020 - January 17, 2021 and is open to Colorado artists working in all mediums. The deadline for submission is midnight on November 15, 2020.

A circle is a shape that is a closed plane curve, every point of which is equidistant from a fixed point at the center of the curve. The circle can refer to the boundary line of the shape or the entire interior space defined by the boundary. The circle is a universal and ancient symbol with extensive meaning. With no beginning and no end, the circle is infinite and can symbolize wholeness, inclusion, and the cycles of life. 

In geometry, a square is a quadrilateral shape that has four equal sides and four equal angles of 90 degrees. The square symbolically represents structure, stability, foundation  and physicality.

Artwork submitted for the “Circles and Squares” exhibit should focus on the shape of the circle or the shape of the square or a combination of both and may consist of literal representation or symbolic interpretation of these fundamental geometric shapes.. 

The show will run from December 8, 2020 - January 17, 2021.

Size: It is best to submit pieces less than 30" wide, including frame or case. We only have a few spots for pieces up to 48" wide.

Shipping: Accepted works must arrive no later than December 6. Work will be returned by Jan 30 unless otherwise agreed upon. A prepaid return label must be provided if sending the work by carrier.

Sales: All sales will be handled through R Gallery. A 50% commission will be charged unless otherwise stated in proceeding agreements. All pieces must remain up for the duration of the exhibition and must be for sale. R Gallery reserves the right to sell accepted works online during the exhibition. R Gallery will send checks to the artist for the sale of their work by the 15th of the month following the month in which the sale occurs.
