Bunnell Street Arts Center presents an Artist in Residence program for International, US, or Alaska artists to create artwork exploring community engagement and creative placemaking. Bunnell sparks artistic inquiry, innovation and equity to strengthen the physical, social and economic fabric of Alaska. Proposals may address relevant themes such as accessibility, equity & inclusion, decolonization, sustainability, anti-racism, skills sharing and exchange, community wellbeing, connection between local and global communities, and more. Artist-led projects at Bunnell or in the community may be in any media or genre, including but not limited to: visual arts, performing arts, social and civic practice, ephemeral art, moving image, music composition/performance, literary arts, movement, theatre, or other. Residencies will be scheduled by mutual agreement between the Artist and Bunnell in 2022. Residencies are generally not available in June, July, or August.

Bunnell Street Arts Center is a multidisciplinary arts center located in a landmark building overlooking Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains in south-central Alaska on the traditional lands of the Dena'ina and Sugpiaq people. Founded in 1991, Bunnell’s mission is to generate artistic inquiry, innovation and equity to strengthen the physical, social and economic fabric of Alaska. A premier exhibition and performance space with historic charm on the main floor doubles as an open studio for Artists-in-Residence. Private rooms with private baths for artists are located upstairs, in a spacious apartment with a shared kitchen and living area.
