Alaska AIR: Residency Agreement [sample] Between Bunnell Street Arts Center and Artist The following conditions represent the agreement between the Bunnell Street Arts Center, referred to henceforth as Bunnell and (artist) referred to henceforth as Artist. Bunnell will award residency to the Artist providing residential and studio space for the period [ tbd ]. Alaska AIR is a program for visiting artists from Alaska, the United States, and the world to galvanize the community around the creation and presentation of artwork that activates the Arts Center’s space and surrounding community. Alaska AIR offers opportunities through art to explore creative placemaking, shared values and communal stewardship in Homer. Alaska AIR activities shall include an at least one artist talk, workshop and presentation per residency which shall be designed in coordination with Bunnell’s Artistic Director. The Artist will be provided orientation upon arrival. The Artist is required to adhere to Bunnell’s regulations, policies and guidelines, and local, state, and federal law while at Bunnell. Failure to comply with these may result in immediate forfeiture of Bunnell’s facility privileges, at the discretion of Bunnell’s staff. Accommodations Residential space is an individual room with private bathroom with communal kitchen and living room facilities at Old Town Bed and Breakfast (www.oldtownbandb.com) located upstairs above Bunnell. Linens and towels are provided. Laundry facilities are on-site. All utilities for studio and living space will be paid for by Bunnell. The Artist will purchase their own groceries and cook their own meals. Studio The Artist will be provided a studio in Bunnell’s gallery. The artist will have 24-hour access to the studio in except when the B&B has other occupants, in which case the Artist is asked to work quietly between 8 pm and 9 am (no hammering, power tools or audible music). The gallery has regular business hours from 11 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday so visitors will be passing through. This is not a private studio. Additionally, Bunnell offers occasional events open to the public in this studio space including readings, concerts and screenings which may be scheduled during the residency. Travel Bunnell will provide the Artist with air travel to and from Homer, Alaska up to the amount of $1000. Artist will be responsible for travel costs beyond that amount. Vehicles may occasionally be made available by Bunnell to Artist for local transportation. Driver must have valid United States or International driver’s license. A bicycle is available for daily use. Bunnell is located in Old Town within walking distance to restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. Stipend Artist will receive a stipend of $2000 to be used at the Artist’s discretion. The Artist must provide a completed W-9. The Artist will be issued a 1099 and is responsible for any taxes owed. Funds will be disbursed: $1000 upon arrival $1000 preceding departure upon conclusion of residency Materials / Additional costs Artist will be provided with a materials stipend or reimbursement for other local costs up to $250. Materials may be shipped to: Bunnell Street Arts Center 106 West Bunnell Street Suite A Homer, AK 99603 Schedule The Artist will develop outreach activities in coordination with Bunnell's Artistic Director. The Artist will confirm residency activities with dates, times, descriptions and provide print-ready imagery for use in marketing and promotion six to eight weeks in advance. Photo and Public Information Release The Artist gives permission for Bunnell to take photos and video of Artist, artwork and activities to be used by Bunnell for marketing, public relations, or fundraising purposes. The artist is responsible for providing current and accurate information to be used for public relations, including Bunnell website, press releases, printed material, and social media.
