CALL FOR ENTRIES! Estrada Garcia Gallery invites artists to submit work for the  2020 HONORING ALL WHO SERVED Online Art Show and Competition

CALL DESCRIPTION – Judith Estrada Garcia, owner of the Estrada Garcia Gallery located at 206 West 10th Street,  Georgetown, Texas 78626 is a retired United States Marine and wishes to take this opportunity to honor her brothers and sisters in arms who have proudly served this nation by holding this National Invitational juried online show for the upcoming 2020 Veteran’s Day. Entries to HONORING ALL WHO SERVED may be somber, insightful, loving or even playful renderings respecting the contributions of both men and women from all branches of service. Though this is an online only show, all works in the show will be for sale through Estrada Garcia Gallery with 10% of the commission going to Art Spark Texas, helping disabled veterans and artists throughout the state.  


ELIGIBILITY - All artists 18 years or older, working in the mediums of painting, drawing, photography, mixed media and digital art are invited to submit up to 5 pieces (see information below) for jury selection that “Honors Those Who Served”.

DATES AND ENTRY DETAILS - Submit images of your work at 120 dpi to www.artist.callforentry.org no later than 12:00 a.m. on November 6, 2020.  Successful entries will be announced by 12:00 a.m. on November 11, 2020.  The show will go online Veteran’s Day November 11, 2020 and will remain online through January 15, 2021. All work in the show will be for sale through Estrada Garcia Gallery with a 30% sales commission retained by the gallery. Funds will not be dispersed unless and until the work is delivered to the gallery.

FEES AND PRIZES - Artists may enter up to 3 pieces for $30.00 with an option to enter another 2 pieces for $10.00 each for a chance to win up to $1,650.00 in prizes.  Prizes will be awarded as follows: First Place - $800 cash with the winning artwork posted on Artsy for 6 months which is a value of $300.00. Total Value for First Place = $1,100.00. Second Place - $400.00 cash with the second place work published on Artsy for 3 months which is a value of $150.00. Total Value for Second Place = $550.00.


OUR JURORS

Michelle Godinez – An educator with the Los Angeles Unified School District for the past 27 years, Michelle has used her education in arts from Cal State University Los Angeles to help Gifted and Talented students reach their maximum potential through Art.

Donna Staten - Donna has been a leader in art education for over 30 years. During this time she presented national workshops for Michael’s, and was a leader with the online student gallery Artsonia for 15 years where her school was ranked #1 in Texas 13 times and in the nation 3 times. She previously served on a Fine Arts Panel for the Texas Education Agency. Donna is known among art teachers, & over 117,000 followers, for her almost 500 art ed focused boards on Pinterest. She was featured on the Pinterest blog & was named an Educational Pinfluencer by the site. She has been interviewed by many news outlets including USA Today & NBC News.

Melton R. Guthrie – As an award-winning Central Texas artist Melton has been creating thought provoking images in oil paint for over four decades. The University of Texas educated son of a United States Marine who made the Inchon landing and was surrounded by Chinese at the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War, Melton knows firsthand about the sacrifices made by those who served.
