The Hotter ‘N Hell National Collegiate Art Exhibition, is a juried show featuring all art forms that use fire and heat as part of the creative process, for example: ceramics, glass-blowing, welded sculpture, poured metals, wood-burning, metalsmithing, burned textiles, etc. Cash prizes will be given to Best in Show, First Place, Second Place, and Merit Award. The NSU Demons are looking forward to turning up the heat this summer by featuring the best pyrotechnical works of college/university students from across the United States.
Artists must be registered and attending a college or university in the United States of America.
January 29, 2021: Open Call to Artist
April 30, 2021: Deadline to Enter
May 21, 2021: Acceptance Notifications Sent
June 11, 2021: Final Day to Deliver Work, all shipped work must be received.
June 18, 2021: Install Show
August 27, 2021: Last Day of Show
September 3, 2021: Last Day to Pick Up Work. Work shipped back to artists.
- All work submitted must use fire and/or heat in its production.
- All work must be ready for display.
- Any work that is not display ready will be returned to the artist.
- Work that requires special installation will be the responsibility of the artist to install.
- No work can exceed eight feet in any dimension.
- Participants are responsible for shipping or delivering works. Specifications for delivery will be included in acceptance letters.
The entry fee is $35 for one to three works. One detail for each piece can be added at no additional costs. (https://www.callforentry.org)

Participants will have to create an account (free), sign-in, upload images to portfolio, submit images, then pay the $35 fee. Payment will be made with a card or Pay Pal.

Juror: Christopher Saucedo
Christopher Saucedo was born and raised in old pre-hip Brooklyn. He received his BFA from New York's School of Visual Arts and his MFA from the University of Michigan. After attending the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture he did post-graduate work at the Queens University of Belfast, in Northern Ireland. Saucedo joined the faculty at Adelphi University on Long Island after being at the University of New Orleans for 20 years, where he was Professor of Sculpture and chairperson of the Fine Arts Department. Over the past 30-years Saucedo has exhibited his artwork in over 100 exhibitions throughout the world and produced several pubic sculptures throughout the USA. He divides his time between New Orleans and Rockaway Beach.
