The Hunterdon Art Tour (THAT) is an annual countywide driving tour of artist’s studios and cultural centers. THAT cultivates awareness of and builds connections within Hunterdon County’s abundant creative and educational communities, and thereby gains recognition for the county as a vital home and destination for the arts.

In homage to the great American road trip, THAT curates a countywide studio tour along the region’s scenic by-ways, linking together a mixture of arts venues and studios as engaging day trips. Through these enriched interactions, THAT supports diverse artists of all ages working in the fine, visual, performing and literary arts.

DATES: The 2021 event will be on Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd from 11 AM to 5 PM each day. 

APPLICATION DEADLINE: The deadline for entry is February 28, 2021. 

FEE: The application fee for an individual artist is $100. If you are a student artist, please contact us at info@thehunterdonarttour.com for a discounted rate. Due to COVID-19, THAT is not able to support group venues for the 2021 event.

If you want to limit your participation to only being in THAT's show at HAM, that is perfectly fine. You will still have a profile page on THAT’s website, which will include your contact information should someone wish to inquire about your work.

It’s fine if you want to show your work in your studio, yard, garage, or wherever you feel comfortable.

 It’s fine if you want to limit the hours of your participation.

 It’s fine if you want to have hours on only one of the event days. Should you choose this option, you will have a day to visit other artists!

 We will post information about where, when and how you will be participating on your profile page on THAT’s website.

We will also post it next to your artwork at HAM during THAT’s exhibition.

If you prefer to have people contact you before coming to your studio we’ll include how you prefer to be contacted.

It is not necessary for you to use Eventbrite to schedule studio visits - that is only a suggestion, not a requirement.

If you aren’t interested in doing a virtual studio tour, that’s fine. It is also just an idea, not a requirement.

Your name also will be featured on the post card and map. The map will direct visitors to the website for the most up-to-date information since we know plans may change after it is printed.

  •   Mediums accepted: painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, performance, film, mixed media, textiles, ceramics, woodworking, glass and jewelry.

IMAGE SUBMISSIONS: Entry for an individual artist must include 2 images: 1 of artwork and 1 of the artist in their studio. Files must be under 500K and no more than 1200px per side.

EXHIBITION AND SALE: Individual artists are eligible to submit one piece of artwork for a show and sale at the Hunterdon Art Museum (HAM). If sold, 25% of the price of the work will be a donation to THAT to help fund the 2022 Tour and 25% will go to HAM. The remaining 50% goes to the artist. Unsold work will be returned to the artist. To participate, you will be required to sign an exhibition loan agreement specific to Hunterdon Art Museum, a link to this form on THAT's website is included in the application. Drop off and pick up of artwork at the Hunterdon Art Museum is the responsibility of the artist.
