Reimagining Hope

The Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC) seeks work for Reimagining Hope, an outdoor exhibition that will be digitally projected on the Daniels & Fisher Tower as part of Night Lights Denver during the 2021 Month of Photography Festival.

After such a difficult year, this call for entry invites you to submit up to three photographs that capture your vision of hope in 2021. Embrace your creativity! Your approach could be concrete, abstract, or depict a moment in time. What stories can you tell through photographs? Final images will be selected by Samantha Johnston, Executive Director & Curator of CPAC, and will be projected in the evenings over two weeks in March 2021.

Applicant submission deadline: Saturday, January 23, 2021

Application notifications sent: February 8, 2021

Projection dates: Two weeks in March 2021 (Exact dates TBA)

Fees: $5 for 3 images (max)

JUROR

Samantha has been the Executive Director and Curator at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center since 2015. She holds a certificate in Arts Development and Program Management from the University of Denver, an MFA from Lesley University College of Art & Design, and a BFA from Alfred University. Prior to joining CPAC, she taught photography and visual arts for 12 years at high schools in Boston and Denver.

She has curated exhibitions with contemporary artists such as Jess T. Dugan, Daniel Coburn, Barbara Ciurej & Lindsay Lochman, and Zora Murff. Samantha has served as a reviewer at Houston FotoFest, Review Santa Fe, PhotoPlus New York, Photolucida, Medium, Month of Photography (MoP), and Filter. She has juried several exhibitions including Critical Mass and The Fence.

She is a longtime member of the Society for Photographic Education, and served as Treasurer of the Southwest region from 2013-2016 and Co-Chair of SPE’s 2013 Southwest regional conference in Denver. She was named one of Colorado’s Top 100 Creatives 3.0 by Westword and has been featured in Lenscratch.

ELIGIBILITY
Entry is open to regional, national, and international artists, the following media are eligible: film; scanner; screen-capture; digital camera; and any means of mobile photography. No video submissions allowed.  Work will be projected digitally onto the Daniels & Fisher Tower https://nightlightsdenver.com/.

Month of Photography Denver is a biennial festival that celebrates the art of photography through public exhibitions and events across the region occurring in March 2021.

•Everyone who submits will receive an email notification of which images were accepted for the online exhibition.

•By providing your email address, you agree to receive updates about CPAC and MOP.

•Upon your acceptance, the work will be projected on the Daniels Fisher Tower in Denver for two weeks. As part of Nights Lights Denver https://nightlightsdenver.com/
