UMPQUA VALLEY ARTS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS:
ARTWORKS NORTHWEST BIENNIAL
UVA's annual Artworks Northwest Exhibit, held in our Hallie Brown Ford Gallery, is a regional juried exhibit of work from artists who reside in the Pacific Northwest region (Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, British Columbia, Western Montana and Western Wyoming). Open to all media including, but not limited to sculpture, printmaking, photography, painting, drawing.
Artworks Northwest has evolved from its beginning as the Hundred Valleys exhibition into a an exhibition featuring works from artists from all around the Pacific Northwest. As a result of the popularity of this exhibit UVA's gallery committee decided to change AWNW from an annual show to a biennial and open up two more gallery spaces to accomodate more works of art. This is an critical show of voices of artists working all around the Pacific Northwest. We are proud to present UVA's first AWNW Biennial! After such an incredibly challenging year, we are happy to still be here to support the artists in our region with this important exhibit in rural southern Oregon.
Stephen Hayes, Marie Watt, Ryan Pearce, Andries Fourie and Scott Malbaurn represent the long line of esteemed jurors we've had since the inception of AWNW. UVA is proud and honored to have Grace Kook-Anderson as our guest juror for the 2021 Artworks Northwest Biennial.
Open to all media.
Juror, Grace Kook-Anderson Grace Kook-Anderson was appointed The Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Northwest Art in January 2017. Prior to joining the museum, she was an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Art in the school of Art + Design at Portland State University and worked as an independent curator and arts writer. From 2008 – 2015, Kook-Anderson was the Curator of Contemporary Art at Laguna Art Museum. History of ArtWorks NW:
The Umpqua Valley Arts Association is proud to present the 2021 ArtWorks Northwest Biennial, a juried art show. This event began in 2007. It was originally titled “Hundred Valleys” to showcase the local pride in the beautiful Umpqua Valley area of Oregon. In 2012 the name changed to reflect the broader regional outreach and impact of this increasingly important venue; ArtWorks NW’s sister show PhotoWorks NW was also began in 2012. In 2015, UVAA married ArtWorks NW and PhotoWorks NW into one exhibition. In 2021 the AWNW exhibit became a biennial exhibit. We are excited to offer this call to artists as an opportunity to have their work recognized and enjoyed by the viewing public.
