Photography: Your Vision
D’art Gallery, a Contemporary Art Gallery in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe, invites you to submit up to three entries to the "Photography: Your Vision" exhibition.
How does your photography manifest itself in today's world?
Why do YOU make photographs? Is it as simple as a desire to create beauty in a world crying for more beauty? A need to expose the world around us? A way of finding relief or coping with the outside world or internal conflict? How does photography bring your internal self outward?
Image making devices are at nearly everyone's fingertips and seemingly unlimited in variety. From smartphones to large format cameras, single exposure to multiple exposure, sharp to intentional movement. Therefore, we are open to all types and formats....we want to see all of it.
Enrich our lives by showing us the photographs you make.
Show us how your photography enhances your life.
JUROR INFORMATION - Maureen Ruddy Burkhart
After growing up in North Africa, Europe and the Middle East, Maureen returned to receive her BFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1976. She later went on to work as a photographer and filmmaker for the US Navy and Technicolor.
But her first love has always been still photography. She spent some years working on an award-winning documentary in the largest slum in Kenya, whose images were recently launched into space as part of the British Journal of Photography's "Portrait of Humanity" exhibition. Her work has been widely exhibited, including Inner Mongolia, China, where she was one of 10 invited American artists. Her travel and lifestyle images are represented by Alamy and Picfair agencies. Some pieces are in collections at the Asia Society Museum and Hamburg Kennedy Photographs in New York.
Undeterred by last spring's Covid-19 lockdown she created a still life series which went on to win a 2020 Paris Photo Prize in Fine Art Photography.
Maureen works with instant film, digital SLRs, and iPhones. She has a eclectic appreciation of the medium and gets inspired by photographers and artists the world over.
