Extended deadline---Animal, Mineral or Vegetable?  2D National Juried Exhibition.  ***$1800 Cash Prizes***
Too often, art of portraiture or landscape dominate the art world. and the art of still life, floral subjects and animals/pets are are not given full due. This 2D exhibition--open to student and adult artists--will  celebrate the artists whose subject is the still life object, floral beauty, or animal art, whether in traditional or contemporary styles, of any media.

Entry Fee:  $35 minimum two images, $5 per each additional entry up to five entry maximum.
Awards:  Best of Show; and Awards in four catagories: Painting; Drawing/Printmaking; Photography; Mixed Media

Notification:  Wednesday Mar 3, 2021
Shipping and hand delivery:  Mar 3 to  to March 21 (21 days) 
Exhibition Dates:  Mar 23 to April 17, 2021. (NOTE:  This is a physical exhibition, with a physical closing reception at the DMAC gallery.)
Closing Reception:  Sat April 10, 6:00-7:30 pm  (NOTE:  artists attending the reception may pick up art at the end of the reception)

Eligibility:  
1.  US artists age 16 & up, and original art of the last three years; 2D art size limit 48 inches wide and 72 inches tall. .  Art requiring assembly is at discretion of Director and by prior agreement only.
2.  Work may be in any media including drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media, photography, printmaking, computer art, or fiber arts.  (sorry, the gallery is not presently able to present time-based or video based works) 
3.  All 2D art must be suitably presentable, ready for hanging or display--unless by prior agreement with Director.   Framed works may have glass or plexiglass (note:  glass is at artist's risk for shipping damage).  Framed works must have suitable hanging wire or D rings.  NO sawtooth hangers or photo frames lacking appropriate hanging wire.

4.  Alternative display methods to traditional frame/glass must be approved by the Director and are solely at his discretion regarding installation and display duration; AND artists accept the shipping and display risks associated with art that is not traditionally framed and under glass/plexiglass.
5.  Acceptance of multiple works, diptychs and triptychs are at the choice of the juror and the discretion of the Director regarding display space.
PLEASE read the legal agreement regarding requirements and liabilities of shipping, receiving, acceptable display and/or set up installation, and return of work .

6.  SHIPPING:  Due to experience of deliveries outside of normal business hours (i.e before 9am, after 5pm, and even on Sundays!), artist are asked to ship all art works to the residence of the Director, where work can be recieved 24/7 by residential occupents.  

Selected Artworks:  Artworks considered unsuitable for hanging/presentation will be refused. The Director reserves the right to refuse an artwork that is misrepresented through documentation or is not the piece selected by the juror.

Selected works are to be hand delivered, or shipped in a reusable container, and with a prepaid return label, for FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc. Works that are damaged in shipping are at the discretion of the juror, as to whether DMAC will repair damaged works for display.

PLEASE note that dates for Artist Notification and shipping are listed; please consider the shipping time- table date when submitting artwork that is not framed prior to the Notification date.

Sales:  The DMAC will encourage sales, but will not actively take a commission; instead, the studio/gallery will connect artists to patrons for private sales.
Juror:  Director Jerry Smith.   Prof Smith received his MFA at the University of Kansas, under Roger Shimomura, noted in textbooks for his paintings presenting racial discrimination, from WWII internment camps to the present.  

Smith also received a Fellowship to the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, where he studied with Betye Saar, Roy DeForest, Eric Fischl, Elizabeth Murray, Elizabeth Cattlett, and Richard Serra.

His work is multi-media assemblage art, incorporating multiple simultaneous styles, words and often humor.
