ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY 2021

he R.G. Endres Gallery annual Art of Photography competition is held every year during the month of April. This is its 4th year. 2021 will be a virtual show and run for two months through the end of May.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all photographers, 18 years of age or older, whose submitted works are created with a camera, independent of any supervision.

 

Awards:

One “Best of Show” at $750, three "Best of Category" awards at $500.00,  six "Honorable Mention" awards (two per category) at $200.00 and a “People's Choice” award of $250.00.

2020 Show Timeline:

  •      Submissions Open: Friday, January 30. 2021

  •      Submissions Deadline: Friday, March 12, 2021

  •      Initial selection by Juror: Sunday, March 14, 2021

  •      Notification of Finalist: Wednesday, March 17, 2021

  •      Opening of the show: Monday, April 5, 2021

  •      Voting begins for People’s Choice: Monday, April 5, 2021

  •      Publication and notification of awards: Friday, April 9, 2021

 

ENTRY DETAIL

Nine entries are allowed, maximum of 3 per category.  Artists may enter all three categories but only one entry per category per artist will be accepted for the show. (It is possible for one artist to have three works in the show, one in each category.) Entry fee for one image is $30.00 each additional image is $3.00.  Fees are non-refundable. A diptych or triptych can be submitted as one entry as long as it meets the same requirements as a single entry and is photographed as one entry during submission. The final round of adjudication will be after selection of the show. 

 

Works sold should be matted and fit into a standard size frame: 11" X 14", 16" X 20", 20" X 24" or 24”x36”.   A diptych or triptych must fit into one frame.

 

The Sales Commission to the Gallery is 40%. All work MUST be for sale . Prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after submission to the show is made.

 

JUROR

Aaron Smith is an accomplished contemporary artist and returning Kansas City native. His kinetic photographs (classified as 'light art') and still photographs have been exhibited in museums and select exhibition spaces throughout the United States, and have been featured in multiple publications. Aaron earned his MFA from Maine College of Art and is currently a professor of visual art and photography at Johnson County Community College and a Board Member at The Arts Asylum.
