13TH NATIONAL JURIED MEMBERS EXHIBITION PROSPECTUS

13th National Juried Members Exhibition and Show:

October 30 - November 12, 2021

 

The PAPNM 13th National Juried Members Exhibition is a juried exhibition and sale of original two-dimensional en plein air artworks presented by the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico (PAPNM) and hosted by Sorrel Sky Gallery from Saturday, October 30th through Friday, November 12th, 2021.

The public and collectors are invited to attend the opening reception and view the exhibition at Sorrel Sky Gallery on Oct 30 from 5-7:30 and located at 125 W Palace Ave, Santa Fe, NM 87501, https://sorrelsky.com, 505-501-6555.

PAPNM is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization of artists dedicated to preserving and promoting painting "en plein air" - in the open air or outdoors.   Please note all arrangements will follow current New Mexico Department of Health guidelines in place at the time of any in person event.

 

ELEGIBILITY 

  • This call is for all current PAPNM members working in two-dimensional mediums. 
  • PAPNM members of the following levels are eligible for this event: Artist Members, Signature Members, Master Signature Members. 
  • PAPNM Master Signature Members will receive a separate email invitation from the exhibition committee and need not apply through Call for Entry (CaFÉTM) nor pay entry fees. 
  • PAPNM Membership for 2021 must be current with dues paid in full before submitting to the call for entry for the exhibition. To join, visit www.papnm.org, and click Join Us” in the top menu. Follow the instructions for member application or renewal and payment. 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND FEES 

  • Each artist may submit up to 4 images. The first image is $35, each additional image is $10 (non-refundable) paid via CaFÉTM www.callforentry.org. 
  • A maximum of 2 artworks may be selected for exhibition from each artist. 
  • Minimum price for artworks is $400. 
  • If artists are having trouble with CaFÉTM process, go to the help menu on
    CaFÉTM www.callforentry.org for assistance. Artists should check their CaFÉTM accounts before 07/16/2021 to verify application status. Upon completion of jury selection, artists will receive notification of acceptance or decline by email. 
  • Jury result notification will be emailed 7/28/2021 Along with the jury notifications, accepted artists will receive information about delivering their art to the gallery. 
  • While PAPNM Master Signature Members are welcome to participate, they will not be eligible for awards. 
  • All work must be at least 80% completed en plein air during the last two years. Works painted prior to 07/01/2019, will be withdrawn from jury consideration and shall not be replaced with another entry.
  •  Images submitted to CaFE’ may not include signatures.
  • Works must not violate copyright laws. All work must be original concept and painted solely by the entering artist. 
  • Works shown in any previous PAPNM juried member exhibition are not eligible for entry.
    Works previously showcased in PAPNM on-line contests are eligible for entry. Works done under the guidance of an instructor are not eligible for entry. 
  • PAPNM recommends all artists follow current recommendations from the State of New Mexico for public health safety with respect to the Covid 19 virus.

 

JUROR OF AWARDS

Jill Carver is winner of the Gold Medal (Artists’ Choice) for Best in Show at Maynard Dixon Country and was inaugurated as Signature Member in Plein Air Painters of America and Artists Choice’ at the Laguna Beach Invitational.

JURORS OF ENTRY 

Joanna Arnett was awarded the 2021 Lifetime achievement Award by Plein Air Magazine. She is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, Laguna Plein Air Painters, and Master Signature Member of Plein Air Artists of Colorado and Plein Air Painters of New Mexico. She is an elected member of The Salmagundi Club.

Paul Kratter was awarded The Plein Air Magazine Award of Excellence, Laguna Plein Air and is featured in Plein Air Podcasts with Eric Rhodes.

Carolyn Lord, is a Signature Member of California Art Club, National Watercolor Society, and American Women Artists.

Terri Ford was the recipient of the Terri Ludwig Award, the Thelma Davis Memorial Award and the Faber Castell Award for excellence in pastels.  

 

IMAGE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 

  • Each artwork entered on CaFÉTM www.callforentry.org must be within size specifications. 
  • Images must adhere to the preparation instructions on CaFÉTM 
  • Maximum size per piece is 192 square inches unframed (12”x16”) 
  • Works larger will be withdrawn from jury consideration and shall not be replaced with another entry. 
  • No minimum size is required of the unframed painting

 

ARTWORK DELIVERY 

  • The artists accepted painting/s will be delivered to Sorrel Sky Gallery by FED Ex or UPS between Oct 19-27 or hand delivered on Oct 27. 
  • If artists are shipping their artwork to the gallery, they must use a professional art shipping container.  Those not using a professional shipping container shall be assessed a $35 processing fee payable to PAPNM
  • All work must be sturdily framed or gallery wrapped and ready to hang with D-rings and wire. No saw tooth hangers will be accepted. 

 

OPENING RECEPTION 

Opening Reception will be held on Oct 30, 2021 from 5-7:30 PM at the Sorrel Sky Gallery, 125 W Palace Avenue, Santa Fe, NM. Awards will be presented at the reception.

TERMS OF ARTWORK SALES 

  • Sorrel Sky Gallery will handle all gallery sales and collect all associated payments from customers, including all applicable New Mexico gross receipts taxes (NMGRT). 
  • All artwork must be available sale by Sorrel Sky Gallery for the entire duration of the show. If work becomes unavailable for sale during the exhibition
    and Sorrel Sky Gallery is unable to process the sale, the artist will be responsible for reimbursing Sorrel Sky Gallery 40% of the original sale price listed in your original inventory form. 
  • Customers will pay all packing, shipping charges and insurance costs. 
  • Sorrel Sky Gallery will sell single artworks at full retail Sorrel Sky Gallery price. For a sale of two or more artworks to a single buyer, Sorrel Sky Gallery may offer a 10% discount to the buyer. 
  • All possible care will be taken of the work submitted to the event. The gallery will not assume responsibility for work improperly framed. Work will be insured by the gallery while at Sorrel Sky Gallery. 
  • Artists receive 50% of sale price of painting within 30 days of the close of the show from PAPNM.
