Up Close and Personal: International Juried Exhibition

Juror: Anna Conlan, Neil C. Trager Director of the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz, in collaboration with youth from The Art Effect
Deadline: April 5, 2021
Exhibition Dates: May 28 - July 1, 2021

$500 First Prize, $250 Second Prize, $150 Honorable Mention

Up Close and Personal invites submissions that engage with the age-old notion of getting up close and personal.

Submitted works might touch on one, or both, of the theme’s concepts: proximity, distance and magnification and/or notions of individuality and identity.   Can we get too close?  Sometimes, when we get close, we see aspects of a subject that we might not have noticed from a distance.  Perhaps it is a truly unique quality, something unexpected or perhaps even a little disconcerting.  Submissions might also address concepts surrounding notions of personality and personal space. identity, portraiture, and intimacy.

Up Close and Personal welcomes a diverse array of media, including ceramics, digital media, film, graphic art, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, video and installation art.  Up Close and Personal will be exhibited at The Trolley Barn in Poughkeepsie, an industrial gallery space and is the hub for the area’s thriving arts scene.  We invite submissions that create either a visually compelling complement or counterpoint to the aesthetics of the unique exhibition space.

Artists of all ages are welcome, regardless of where they are from or how they identify.

This international juried exhibition will be held May 28 through July 1, 2021, at The Art Effect's Trolley Barn Gallery, 489 Main St., Poughkeepsie, New York, with an Opening Reception Friday, May 28, 5-7pm.

Artists will be notified within approximately one week after the deadline in an email about the selection status of their entries.
