WHERE AM I FROM? WHERE AM I NOW?
INTERNATIONAL FOCUS - THE ART OF AFRICA
Where are you from? Perhaps your family has been here for generations. Perhaps you recently arrived. Whether for reunions, business, study, or because of natural or economic hardships or persecutions -- the reasons to immigrate are as varied as the people now residing in America. Where are you now? Why do you live where you currently reside? Does your art reflect the culture from which you came, or the culture of where you are now? Does it depict how you relate to your past or present circumstances? If so, this show is for you.
This is show is open to anyone from Africa or who traces one’s roots to the African continent.
This will be a juried show featuring 2 or 3 dimensional works in oils, acrylics, watercolors, photography, and collage. Sculpture and jewelry & textiles will also be accepted. All work must be orginal and handmade.
We are also particularly interested in dance, performance or storytelling videos.
There will be a virtual opening night of art, performances and artists’ talks, Thursday June 24, 7pm EDT
