Submission Requirements

All entries must be alternative photographic processes and created in the last 2 years.  Acceptable processes include, but are not limited to, Cyanotype, Gum Bichromate, Van Dyke, Palladium/Platinum, Photopolymer Gravure, Copper Plate Gravure, Salt, Tintype, Silver Gelatin, Chemigrams, Phytograms, Lumens, Chromogenic prints, Hand applied emulsions, Photo-encaustic, Carbon, Gumoil, Instant transfers and lifts, and Hand-manipulated (altered surface) digital prints. Combinations of these processes are welcome.  Digital photographic images can be used in combination with other processes, but straight digital prints will not be accepted, with an exception for lumen where the unfixed originals can not be safely exhibited.  3D and experimental work is encouraged. 

Work needs to arrive at the gallery ready to hang but framing is not required. Magnets, clips, and other methods can be used. Artists must include instructions for alternative presentations.

Juror Bio:
Diana Bloomfield

A photographic artist for over 35 years, Diana specializes in 19th century photographic printing techniques.  Her images and handmade artist books have been exhibited internationally and featured in multiple books and publications.  She is represented by the Ryan Gallery, of Art Intersection, located in Gilbert, Arizona, and by photo-eye Gallery (Photographers Showcase), located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. 

Diana, a native North Carolinian, lives and works in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she received her MA in English Literature and Creative Writing, from North Carolina State University.  Diana also teaches workshops throughout the United States, and in her beautiful backyard studio.  To view more of Diana’s work, visit www.dhbloomfield.com

Diana will be teaching a Tri-Color Gum printing workshop at Light Art Space from September 18 - 19th, 2021. 

Important Dates:

July 7th, midnight Mountain time - deadline for submitted work
July 12th - notification of acceptance via email
July 31st - work due at Light Art Space
August 6th - opening day
Reception: Friday, August 6th, 5-7 pm. 

October 2nd, 2021 final day

Up to 5 images accepted per artist

 Sales:

Sales are encouraged but artwork need not be for sale. Light Art Space will retain a 40% commission on any artwork sold. The sale price on the entry form must include commission. All artwork will remain in the exhibition through October 2nd, 2021.
