Heather Ferrell is Curator and Director of Exhibitions at Burlington City Arts, Vermont. Ms. Ferrell believes in the intrinsic role of art in the exchange of meaningful ideas, and is dedicated to successfully connecting art, artists and audiences through relevant, thought-provoking exhibitions and programs.
Since joining BCA in 2016, she has curated numerous exhibitions that feature regional and international artists including More Than an Object: The Contemporary Still Life, Diana Al-Hadid: Immaterial; Sarah Amos: Unique Multiples; Transcendent: Spirituality and Contemporary Art, and Meg Lipke: In the Making.
Over the course of Ms. Ferrell’s museum career she has led institutional planning, capital campaigns, and multi-year grant initiatives for several institutions. She has also curated more than 60 solo and groups exhibitions including: Mathew Barney: Cremaster I; James Castle: An Individual Approach; Pat Steir: Waterfall Paintings, and All American: Defining Ourselves in a Time of Change. Before joining Burlington City Arts, Ms. Ferrell served as Deputy Director of Exhibitions and Programs, National Museum of Qatar and Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha (2010-2016); Director, Salt Lake Art Center, Utah (2008-2010); Director and Curator, Salina Art Center, Kansas (2005-2008); and Assoc. Curator of Art, Boise Art Museum, Idaho (1999-2005). Ms. Ferrell received her MA in Art History and Museums Studies from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio; and is a graduate of the Getty Leadership Institute’s Museum Leaders: The Next Generation (2004).

All winners will be part of a group show in our Chelsea gallery space, and also will be listed on Viridian's website.
Accepted Work: Artists of all mediums and genres are encouraged to apply. (Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Glass, Fiber, Functional, Digital, Photography, Installation, Mixed Media)
Size and Specifications: The exhibition will consist of two-dimensional and three- dimensional art works in all media. The size limitation for wall-hung work is 60 inches high by 60 inches wide (including frame.) Free-standing work may not exceed 30 inches wide by 30 inches deep by 96 inches high. Modular work or installations may be larger.
The show will be exhibited from January 3-January 28, 2023, with an opening reception on Thursday, January 5, 6-8pm
Application Requirements
The receipt of any entry will be understood to imply agreement on the part of the entrant with all conditions set forth in the prospectus. All accepted 2D work must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. Plexiglass only, no glass. Sculptors may be required to supply pedestals where necessary. Complex installations may require the presence of the artist. Sales will be encouraged. The Gallery takes a 20% commission. Full-time students are not eligible.
