Susan Harris is an independent curator and writer of contemporary art in New York City. She is on the Executive Boards of Art Critics Association of America (AICA-US), Printed Matter and The Brooklyn Rail for which she is a contributing editor.
Cash Awards For 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize Winners:
1st prize: $300.
2nd prize: $200.
3rd prize: $100.
All winners will be part of a group show in our Chelsea gallery space, and also will be listed on Viridian's website.
Accepted Work: Artists of all mediums and genres are encouraged to apply. (Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Glass, Fiber, Functional, Digital, Photography, Installation, Mixed Media)
Size and Specifications: The exhibition will consist of two-dimensional and three- dimensional art works in all media. The size limitation for wall-hung work is 60 inches high by 60 inches wide (including frame.) Free-standing work may not exceed 30 inches wide by 30 inches deep by 96 inches high. Modular work or installations may be larger.
The show will be exhibited from September 7-October 2, 2021, with an opening reception on Thursday, September 9, 6-8pm
*The receipt of any entry will be understood to imply agreement on the part of the entrant with all conditions set forth in the prospectus. All accepted 2D work must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. Plexiglass only, no glass. Sculptors may be required to supply pedestals where necessary. Complex installations may require the presence of the artist. Sales will be encouraged. The Gallery takes a 20% commission. Full-time students are not eligible.
