ELIGIBILITY
All artists with a disability causing physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major daily life activities are eligible. Examples of major life activities include walking, seeing, hearing, breathing, personal care, learning or working.
ENTRIES
Artists are invited to submit up to four works of art in any of the six show categories: Watercolor, Mixed Media, Photography, Oil & Acrylic, Graphic and Sculpture (3D).
ART SALES
All art must be for sale. The goal of Art of Possibilities is to empower artists living with disability through the celebration and sale of their art. Artists are encouraged to price artwork at a fair market price. Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute returns 100% of the sale price to the artist. Please price work to sell, and consider quality, technique, framing and experience. Currency exchange rates will be based on rate, on the day of sale. All artist sales payments will be issued at one time in July, 2022.
AWARDS
A professional jury panel will review on-site artwork and present $4,500 in monetary awards. A $500 award will be presented to one artist as “Best of Show”. A $100 award will be presented as an "Encouragement Award." First, second, third and honorable mention monetary awards and ribbons are presented in all six categories - Watercolor, Oil & Acrylic, Photography, Sculpture (3D), Mixed Media and Graphic. Winners receive $250, $175, $125 and $100 respectively. All artist award payments will be issued in July, 2022. Only on-site art will be in the jury review for awards.
ART SPECIFICATIONS
- Submissions are limited to four entries per artist.
- In the Café application, entries must be summitted under the participating artist name and contact.
- Art must be the original work of the artist and created within the past three years.
- Artist must have a disability at the time of art creation.
- Previous entries are not accepted.
- Artwork submitted to Phase 2 of the show must be the same as the online entry image submitted.
- Art must be for sale at a fair market price. Artwork must not exceed 36 inches in any one direction.
- All artwork, including sculpture, must not exceed 20 pounds.
- Art must have an identification label attached to the back or to the base. It must include artist's full name, title, medium and price.
- Hanging artwork must be framed with an attached wire hanging that is at minimum 6 inches wide for the hanger. We cannot hang unwired, saw-tooth, D-rings or flimsy hooks.
- Plexiglas is highly recommended. Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute is not responsible for glass breakage either in transit or while in our possession.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
All artists will have an artist Biography of approximately 500 words displayed near their art and on the online gallery. The Biography is very important. It helps the art buyers make a connection to each artist's story, experience, and unique art process.
Biographies may include information about the artist’s background, interest and experience with art, techniques, their philosophy and personal connection to art. Art of Possibilities may edit biographies. Although not required, we encourage artists to include their disability and any special adaptations they use to create their work. Artists are in control of how their story is told and what is disclosed in their biography. (A helpful tip: We encourage artists to save their biography to make the application process easier next year!)
2-PHASE ART SHOW JURY PROCESS
PHASE 1 is the café digital review of images. Each entrant may submit one digital image of each piece of artwork up to four entries. Images should be in JPEG format. Please take care in photographing your work to ensure a quality image. Artists will be notified after the Phase 1 review with an invitation to submit selected original art for Phase 2 inclusion. Courage Kenny has the right to refuse any artwork. Please review Art Specifications.
PHASE 2: Phase 2 is the on-site Jury Review of the accepted artwork from Phase 1. Art not shipped or delivered to Courage Kenny will not be included in the Phase 2 Jury Review, but will be featured in the online show and sale.
2022 HYBRID SHOW FORMAT: ON-SITE and ONLINE
After two years of virtual art shows, we are excited to return to an on-site art show format! We will celebrate with an in-person Opening Reception at Courage Kenny - Golden Valley on June 2, 2022. Artists may choose to participate in Art of Possibilities in one of two ways: On-site or Online.
On-site Art: Art that is physically displayed at Courage Kenny and featured online. Art will be included in Jury Review. Art that is delivered/shipped to Courage Kenny for inclusion in the on-site show will be displayed and reviewed for jury awards and be on display for the entire duration of the show.
Online Art: Art that is featured online only. Art will not be included in Jury Review. Since the jury can not fairly review artwork online with art on-site, online-only entries will not be included in the jury review. However, ALL artwork will be available viewing and online purchase.
If you wish to be included in the Phase 2 Jury Review, art must be received at Courage Kenny by April 29th.
ART SHIPPING AND DELIVERY
Invited artwork that will be on-site should be delivered/shipped to Courage Kenny-Golden Valley April 26th to 29th 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Artists may ship artwork to be received at Courage Kenny from April 18th to April 29th. The final deadline for receiving all on-site art is April 29th.

Online-only artwork sold will need to be shipped directly from the artist to the art buyers at the time of the sale or at the conclusion of the show. Shipping/delivery of artwork in a timely manner is the responsibility of the artist.
Shipped artwork must be packed in a quality containers. Do not use: Styrofoam, peanuts, popcorn or coins as packing filler.
SOLD ARTWORK
All artwork must be available for sale. Courage Kenny returns 100% of the sale price to the artist. Please price artwork at a fair market price. Courage Kenny will ship/deliver artwork to buyers for all on-site art sales. For online-only art, shipping/delivery of the art is the responsibility of the artist.
LIABILITY
Artists assume all risk for loss or damage of artwork submitted. Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute will do its best to secure the art and have trained staff handle the artwork. Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute is not responsible for glass breakage either in transit or while in our possession. The value of any one piece of artwork must not exceed $2,000.
MEDIA RELEASE
By submitting Work to the Art of Possibilities Art Show & Sale, I hereby consent to my Photograph, Biography and/or an Interview for the purposes of Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute and Art of Possibilities promotion for publication in newspapers, magazines, the Internet, social media or other printed media or broadcast by television/radio transmission.
I recognize that Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, part of Allina Health, is acting only as an intermediary, making it possible for said publication or broadcast. As such, I hereby agree to hold Allina Health and Art of Possibilities free and harmless from any and all liability arising out of the Photograph, Biography or Interview and subsequent publication or broadcasting.
I assume full responsibility for my submitted Photograph and Biography. I agree to the media release of use of my Photo and Biography for the use of CKRI to promote the Art of Possibilities Art Show & Sale.
PROMOTIONAL AGREEMENT
By submitting my café application, I understand I am in control of how my Work and Biography are presented. By submitting my Work to the Art of Possibilities Art Show & Sale, I hereby grant to Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute the right and license, for a period of two years, to reproduce and distribute, by any means, my Work, for use on marketing materials, a Note Card, and/or Other Product promoting Art of Possibilities Art Show & Sale. I retain the copyright in the Work.
I understand my Work may appear in promotional materials, Notecards or Other Product for Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute. I hereby grant Courage Kenny the right to modify my Work if necessary for this purpose. I understand and agree that any proceeds from the sale of the Notecards and Other Products will be used for Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute’s programs serving people with disabilities.
