YOUR TRUE COLORS.  This is NOT your traditional Valentine’s Day show.  Our theme asks you to explore your own journey with self-acceptance, the triumphs and the pitfalls, as you impress our juror with your authentic expression, even if that means an absence of color.  Now is your chance to catch the eye of Nicholas Wilton with your unique mode of expression and be your own Valentine.  Your True Colors is a fundraising show sponsored by the Negri Foundation. Hosted by the Artist Mentor Project, a portion of the proceeds will go to The Art of Autism, https://the-art-of-autism.com/ is a 501c3 nonprofit.  This show will be hung on the walls of the Expressions Gallery at the Escondido Arts Partnership Municipal Gallery. 

Juror: AMP is excited to announce that Nicholas Wilton as our juror. 

Nicholas is a professional, award winning artist and the founder of the Art2Life Creativity workshops and classes. This highly effective system of teaching returns authenticity, spontaneity, and joy back into the creative process. Nicholas also has established the Creative Visionary Mentoring Program, which offers artistic, business, and creative coaching to artists. He speaks and writes extensively about creativity, purpose, and inspiration.

The exhibition runs from February 5 - March 18, 2022 at the  Expression Gallery at Escondido Arts Partnership, 262 East Grand Ave., Escondido, CA. 92025

Sales:  Sales will be handled by the Escondido Municipal Gallery.  The Gallery will take a commission of 20 %.  You may enter work NFS at your discretion.

PRIZES: Best in Show: $500.  1st Prize: $500. 2nd Prize: $300.  3rd Prize: $150.  3 Honorable Mentions:  $30 each.

RECEPTION: 262 East Grand Ave Escondido, CA 92025 (San Diego County)  February 5th, 2022 5 pm- 730 pm.  The event will follow all city, county, and state mandated COVID precautions. 

Prizes will be announced during the reception. 

This event will be catered by @Kevin the Baker, a microbusiness owned by a young adult on the autism spectrum.

Artists affiliated with the Art of Autism are eligible for a discount on entrance fees.  Please email the point of contact for further information.  We encourage all artists of all abilities to apply, but please remember this will be a very competitive show.

See the legal agreement for information and dates for mailing and dropping off, and picking up artwork.  Works being mailed need to be received between January 10, 2022 and January 21, 2022 to the address provided in the acceptance letter and not the Gallery address. This is VERY IMPORTANT. Drop off dates will be provided in the acceptance letters for the event.

Application Requirements

Submissions accepted through CAFE until 11/23/21 midnight MT. This is NOT CA time so please take note. Submission fee $35.  $5 per additional image up to 10.  

Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY: This juried exhibition is open to all artists with a practice based in California, 18 years of age or older. Works in any painting medium (oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pastel, chalk, mixed media, collage, etc.), any  2 -d visual arts and photography in all forms of representational and non-representational paintings are eligible.  Entries must not exceed 72 inches vertical or 48 inches horizontal and should weigh no more than 30 lbs.  All work must be hang ready with D-rings and wire.  Mailed in work must be insured and properly packaged with return postage paid.
