ELEGIBILITY

The goal of Showcase Noir is to emphasize high quality artwork being created by contemporary African American artists. To ensure that we maintain the integrity of the show we establish standards that each artist must meet in order to be accepted. These stands are common to most fine art, fine craft shows. The work shown and sold in Showcase Noir must be of the same nature and quality as the images submitted for jurying. If an artist is working in a variety of styles within one medium, the application should reflect these various styles. All work shown in your submission must be representative of the work you plan to present at your table and for sale or available for order. The Showcase Noir staff reserves the right to request the removal of any work that differs from the slides submitted and accepted, as well as any inappropriate work or display.

ALL WORK MUST BE ORIGINAL, designed and crafted by the applicant. We do not accept work made from commercial molds, kids or patterns, nor other commercial methods. Copyrighted designs not owned by the artist are not permitted. No factory-made items are permitted. Absolutely no “buy-sell”. All artwork must be completely handmade by the artist. Showcase Noir is open to all African-American artists from within accepted medium categories (see categories below). All work must be original and designed and crafted by the artist.

All entries will be juried by the Showcase Noir Committee. Decisions will be based on quality, originality, and craftsmanship.

Since interaction between the artist and the public is fundamental to the event, the artist must be present during the entire event. No commercial agents, dealers or salespeople may operate the artist’s booth.

Collaborations/ partnerships are permitted, however all artists must represent this to the public and to Showcase Noir in your application. Artists may not display or sell work by apprentices or employees, only their own original work.

ASSISTANTS: Please bring an assistant or helper to help you set up, and so that you may take breaks as needed.
