The 5x5x5 Show

River Oaks' small art spectacle returns for 2021. The 6th Annual 5x5x5 features a remarkably fascinating showing of miniature works from artists across the U.S., coinciding with the gift giving season. Guest Juror for the 2021 feature is Haley Prestifilippo. River Oaks is inviting all visual artists to participate in this annual miniature feature . The 5x5x5 Show is a signature event for the Arts Center, allowing patrons to purchase unique, original works of art for holiday gift giving or as additions to their expanding collections.

Haley Prestifilippo is a studio artist who focuses primarily on drawing. Haley’s detailed graphite works explore the symbiotic nature of creation and deterioration, and how this relationship underscores the intricacy of human experience. She is fascinated by the similar dichotomy found within the symbolic imagery of the vanitas, where vibrant beauty and the pall of mortality subtly inhabit the same aesthetic space. In her work, she draws upon the imagery of those still lives, recasting the familiar animals and natural elements into ambiguous narratives, offering a contemporary meditation on the complexity of existence.

Originally from Augusta, GA, she moved to Norman in 2011 and has since worked as an artist and educator. She has previously taught drawing in the OU School of Visual Arts, and has worked with the Firehouse Art Center in Norman for several years. Haley has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards through the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, of which she is a member and avid supporter. She has also been invited to participate in several events and shows with the Norman Arts Council, including Norman Open Studios in 2016. Haley enjoys being involved with various grassroots art groups in Norman and Oklahoma City, while also exhibiting her work regionally and nationally. As an artist, she strives to foster her students’ creative visions while providing them with a strong formal training in the traditional methods of drawing and sketching.

5x5x5 Guidelines:

●  Image size should be no larger than 5x5 or 25 square inches.

●  Three dimensional work should stay with in the same size range 5”h x 5”w x 5”d - open

to all media.

●  Original works only. No prints.

●  Open to all media

●  When/if matting, the mat should be off-white or white in color. No limitations on frame or

mat size. 5x5x5 specification applies to work only, not framing or mat.

●  There are no color or material restrictions for framing. Framing should suite the piece

and be ready to hang.

●  Entry artists are allowed to submit 1 - 3 (max) pieces One image per entry.  Please do not submit more than one image for a piece.  

●  ALL SPECS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED IN ORDER TO BE INCLUDED.

●  River Oaks receives a 30% commission on works sold.

●  ROSAC reserves the right to photograph exhibited work/utilize digital images for reproduction in both printed and electronic materials for publicity.

Shipping:

Artists are responsible for shipping/insurance costs to/from the Art Center. Please have accepted artwork delivered by 5 pm Friday, November 5. All work must arrive w/ return shipping label. If no return label is remitted, the art center will contact you if your piece does not sell about return shipping or the item will remain in River Oak’s Gallery Gift Shop following the featured exhibition. Gift shop inventory - 30% commission rate will still apply. Entries will be returned in the same wrapping in which they were received (no peanuts please).

The call is open to any visual artist currently living/working in the Untied States.  Entered work must have been completed within the past year.
