Background
Brookfield Residential and the City of Avondale are seeking to commission a unique permanent signature artwork installation for Alamar Park, a new 40-acre regional park currently under construction in Avondale, Arizona. It is hoped that the artwork will be both engaging and interactive for visitors to this new regional destination park and community amenity. The artwork respond to the context of its location and should draw people in, invite engagement and interaction and create memorable moments. 

 Avondale, incorporated in 1946, is a rapidly growing community west of Phoenix in Maricopa County, situated adjacent to the Estrella Mountain Regional Park and just north of the Gila River along the Agua Fria river corridor. It is a growing West Valley community of about 84,000 residents (per 2017).  Art and creativity are priorities for the City of Avondale.

Artwork Location
The artwork will be sited in the center of a hardscape plaza that measures roughly 46 feet in diameter. The site is identified on the attached site plan as note number 17.

Maintenance
Artists are encouraged to consider the long-term maintenance needs of artwork for Alamar Park and to consider highly-durable, low-maintenance materials to ensure the longevity of individual pieces.

Budget

The budget for Alamar Park, inclusive of all associated costs to design, deliver and install a complete work of art is $100,000.

Application Requirements

Artists must submit credentials through CallForEntry.org and application requirements will include:

• At least 6 and up to 20 images of past work
• A professional resume outlining experience and accomplishments.
