We invite you to enter the CoMA Design Awards. This is an exhibition sponsored by the Colorado Metalsmiths Association that will be shown at the next CoMA Conference in Pueblo, CO 2022. You do not need to be a member of CoMA to enter. This is open to everyone. There will be 8 finalists chosen from each of the three categories for an exhibition. Awards for Best of Show, 1st place and 2nd place of each category will be given. There will be two rounds of jurying by jurors selected nationwide. Registration opens September 1 and will close on January 31, 2022.

 

Apply in one or more of the following three categories:

Professional Jewelry

Professional Object/Holloware

Student/Emerging

 

Awards totaling $5250

1.   Best of Show (From Professional category) $1500

2.   Professional Jewelry 1st place $1000

3.   Professional Jewelry 2nd place $500

4.   Professional Object/Vessel 1st place $1000

5.   Professional Object/Vessel 2nd place $500

6.   Student/Emerging 1st place $500

7.   Student/Emerging 2nd place $250

 

Fee per application:

Professional Categories $55 (CoMA Members $35)

Student/Emerging $30 (CoMA Members $20)

Eligibility:

The Design Awards is a national competition and open to all. You do not have to be a member of CoMA in order to participate. The Professional Category is open to all. The Student/Emerging category includes those who are in a degree program or someone who is new to making jewelry/metalwork in the past three years. Applicant must currently reside in the U.S.

 

How to Enter:

Apply through Café. Only one piece may be submitted per application per category. There is a fee per submission. For Professional Categories it is $55 per submission ($35 for Members) and for Student/Emerging $30 per submission ($20 for Members). Applicants can enter more than one category with different pieces. If an artist wants to submit multiple pieces they will need to submit a new application for each category.

Application Requirements

Each submission must include the following:

  1. Title of the piece. Please note that the title and how it is spelled and punctuated will appear in all communications and publications.
  2. Type or function of jewelry or object.
  3. Materials used, including:
  • Metal type(s), karat
  • Stone(s) type, size/carat weight, shape
  • Other material(s)

    4. Description (limit of 800 characters) including the following:

  • Concept/design development
  • Techniques used to complete the piece (cast, fabricated, assembled, raised, engraving, lapidary, etc.)

Do not include any personal identifying information in the description.

Photographic Images

  1. Up to 3 images per submission. Entry must include one image of the entire piece and if needed, up to 2 other images of a detail or different angle.
  2. Do not list your name, company name, logo, or any other identifying information in your description or images.
  3. Use a high quality image with quality lighting and clear detail.
