Project Name: PAC Itty Bitty Art Project 2022

Call Hosted by Public Art Commission and Foothills Art Center

Award: $500

Project Description:

The Golden Public Art Commission wants to find a way to make art more approachable and fun for both art appreciators and artists on a small-scale budget. The Itty Bitty Art Project 2022 follows this mission to bring art and artists together. The PAC has located 14 different artist sites. There are 7 sites along the Clear Creek Walking Path near the Golden Library. There are also 7 artist sites on Washington Avenue on the Block with the Howdy Arch. This could be a crack in the side of a building, a section of small brick or cobblestone, a water spigot, etc.

Purpose:

This call is being hosted by Foothills Art Center and will coincide with FAC’s Arts Week, Golden. The general public will find these outdoor art pieces and surprise and delight in these small site-specific works. Keep in mind these installations are meant to be ephemeral or short-lived. Being that they are outdoors and on stone, concrete, etc., they are expected to last between 12 and 24 months. They are small art treasures to be enjoyed while they exist.

Artist Call to Entry:

o   In one application you may select up to 3 possible locations. You may apply multiple times to design works for more places.

o   The Artist must illustrate the style of art that they intend to use at the site-specific locations. Proposals should be intended for specific sites, using the unique aspects of the design.

o   The artist can use any medium but understand that the art is intended to be treated so that it will last

between 12 and 24 months.

o   We have included samples of other art as inspiration only. We want to have the artists be creative and have fun. https://myonebeautifulthing.com/2022/01/26/ememem/  AND https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2013-01-09/when-cracked-sidewalks-become-art
