EXHIBITION DATES Sept 7 - 29, 2012 OPENING RECEPTION Sept 7, 2012, 6 - 8:30 pm ENTRY DEADLINE Jun 29, 2012 DELIVERY DEADLINE Aug 20, 2012 AWARDS Top 3 places will be featured in Poets and Artists magazine. 1st Place - Winning artist will be mentioned on cover of Poets and Artists magazine; feature story inside, including headshot of artist, statement, studio shot, picture of winning piece, as well as several photos of artist's current work, link to artist's website, plus $1,000 cash prize and announcement on IEA website. 2nd Place - Published in Poets and Artists magazine, including head shot, artist statement, photo of winning piece, and link to website plus $600 cash prize and announcement on IEA website. 3rd Place - Published in Poets and Artists magazine, including head shot, artist statement, photo of winning piece, and link to website plus $400 cash prize and announcement on IEA website. 1 - 5 "Honorable Mention" awards (selected at juror's discretion): Names mentioned in Poets and Artists magazine; Certificate of Merit; announcement on IEA website. Artwork selected for the exhibition will be published in an online gallery. ELIGIBILITY The competition is open to all artists working anywhere in the world, 18 years of age and older. SPECIFICATION Submitted works must be original, 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional encaustic works conceived and created entirely by the artist. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor or works created while in a workshop are not eligible. Artwork must not be copied in part or wholly from any published or copyrighted work. If the work is based on reference photos, the photos must have been taken by the artist or used with permission of the photographer. The medium is restricted to encaustic. While mixed media works are acceptable, all works must contain a preponderance of molten wax, which comprises a major component in the creation of the work. Film, video, crafts and jewelry will not be accepted. SIZE 2-D Works: Minimum Size accepted: 12" x 12"; Maximum size for 2-D works: 72" (h) x 72" (w) ; no more than 50 pounds 3-D Works: May not exceed 72" (h) x 30" (w) x 72" (d) ; may not exceed 150 pounds, must fit through a standard door opening and be able to be carried safely by 2 healthy adults. SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY All entries will be accepted online at www.callforenty.org (CaFE). ENTRY FEES AND PAYMENT (NON-REFUNDABLE) For IEA members: $25 (with member discount code) - Minimum: 3 entries. $10 for each additional entry (up to a total of 6 entries) For non-IEA applicants: $35 - Minimum: 3 entries. $10 for each additional entry (up to a total of 6 entries) NOTE: Membership in IEA not a requirement for entry into this competition. NOTIFICATION DATE Accepted artists will be notified by e-mail on or about July 15, 2012. Award winners will be notified at the opening reception at Gallery Nord, Sept 7, 2012. INSURANCE All works will be insured by Gallery Nord while in the possession of the gallery. Works received prior to August 20 will be held in a secure, climate controlled storage facility. Your work will be insured by IEA during the period of storage until the work is in the possession of the gallery. Artists are responsible for insurance of any unsold works during transit back to the artist. RESPONSIBILITY OF CARE STATEMENT Neither IEA, its officers, board members, nor any sponsors, in-kind sponsors, nor any and all volunteers involved with the exhibition will be responsible for loss or damages to any artwork unless otherwise stated. IEA volunteers will use all caution and utmost care in handling received entries. SALES / COMMISSION All works submitted for this exhibition must be for sale thru Gallery Nord. Price of artwork cannot be changed once it is submitted. Gallery Nord is entitled to a 50% commission on all sales during the exhibition. Artist will receive 50% of the retail price, less sales tax. Additionally, Gallery Nord, at its discretion, may discount the artwork by 10% (5% each coming from both artist and gallery). Any additional discount in sales price must be approved in advance by the artist. SELECTION All work will be juried from online JPEG images in RGB color mode (not CMYK). The juror reserves the right to decline work that differs significantly from the submitted imagery. PRESENTATION All 2D work is subject to be fit for hanging upon receipt of work. All 2D works must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. Exception: Works completed on cradled panels need not be framed. Works on paper must be framed under Plexiglas. Works received with wet paint, ink or other materials will not be accepted. Work may not be displayed if it is received damaged. The gallery owner and/or juror, reserve the right not to display a work. You will be notified of any damage upon receipt of the work and/or if it is not to be exhibited in the show. All accepted 2D work is assumed to be ready to hang and acceptable. Damage, and/or improper hanging hardware are usually the reasons work cannot be hung. DELIVERY / SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS AND DEADLINE Detailed instructions will be provided to artists whose works have been accepted on or about July 15, 2012. All packages mailed must include a pre-paid shipping label with bar code. Exhibition administrator will accept mailed works August 1 - 20, 2012. Mailed, unsold works will be shipped back to the artist Oct 8 -12, 2012. Any artwork left for 30 days or more becomes the property of IEA to dispose of as they wish. Submission of work to this exhibition constitutes an agreement to the conditions stated in this prospectus and a commitment to show accepted work for the duration of the exhibition. If accepted work is not delivered to the venue by the deadline for delivery for any reason, the artist will be disqualified from future IEA juried exhibitions for a period of two years. All of the conditions enumerated in this prospectus and online entry form must be met, or work will not be accepted. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with all terms stated.
