Our Juror:

Shannon Trevethan

Shannon Trevethan likes exploring Kansas, making art, visiting museums and galleries, and meeting other artists. She creates art by working in both oil and mixed media. Art making for her is like meditation and part of her daily ritual. Shannon’s paintings are an exploration of the divination of human character through shape, features, and expression. By experimenting with accidental processes, she creates work through diligent practices, which can be a cathartic experience.

Trevethan moved from Montana to Kansas in the summer of 2010 and enrolled in her first painting course that fall at Fort Hays State University. She graduated in the spring of 2015 with a BFA in studio art. Shannon currently works as director of the Deines Cultural Center in Russell, KS. Where her dedication to art making extends beyond her own work to building a community of artists and art enthusiasts.
