The League for Innovation’s Student Art Awards competition, now in its 36th year, enables community college students to compete with their peers across North America and showcases a selection of the best work being created by today’s community college students.

Each college’s winning entries must be submitted via the CaFÉ online submission manager to be considered for the international competition.

Certificates of merit will recognize all students whose works are submitted to the international competition and their artwork will be included in the competition catalog.

Requirements

  • Artworks submitted to the international competition are selected by students’ home colleges.
  • All types of art media are eligible, including 3D work.
  • Selected artists may submit 1 digital image for 2D work, 2 digital images for 3D work, 1 video file, or 1 audio file via the CaFÉ online submission manager. Deadline: April 27, 2022
  • Limits on file sizes and file types for all media uploads: IMAGE: JPEG or JPG, under 5MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. AUDIO: AIFF, WAV, XMF, MP3, under 10MB with a minimum bit rate of 96. VIDEO: 3PG, WMV, AVI, MOV, ASF, MPG, MP4, M2T, MKV, M2TS, under 100MB with a minimum resolution of 640 x 480; minimum 12 fps.
  • Submissions to the international competition are drawn from each student’s portfolio of digital images housed on the CaFÉ online submission manager. Specific file names will not be visible to the jurors or to the international coordinator. Only a student’s name and title of artwork will appear on the CaFÉ.
  • Local Campus Coordinators will collect and send the 5 completed and signed League for Innovation Student Art Awards competition entry forms to the competition coordinator.

Eligibility

Students currently enrolled in art classes at a League Board Member College are eligible to enter the competition. Each League Board Member College will nominate 5 artworks by 5 different student artists for submission to the international competition.

Student Checklist

  • Check with your instructor for your college’s entry date and selection process.
  • Complete the entry form in its entirety and sign the form.

The entry form requires a short (50 words or less) written statement regarding the submitted artwork. The statement may address the submitted work, or it may be a more general artist statement. All statements will be published in the exhibition catalog. Proofread the statement prior to submission to the CaFÉ online submission manager.

  • Submit your completed and signed entry form with digital files to your college’s local Campus Coordinator. All images must be clear, properly exposed, and set at the required resolution.

Number of Entries Per College

Each League Board Member College may submit a total of 5 artworks created by 5 different student artists to the international competition.
