Greenwood Village Arts and Humanities Council Annual Art Scholarships. The Greenwood Village Arts and Humanities Council is pleased to announce its annual Art Scholarships.

Eligibility: 
Students must be a graduating senior from an Arapahoe County high school or a graduating senior who is a resident of Greenwood Village. The student must be planning to enroll as a full-time student at a college or arts school majoring in either the performing, visual, literary arts or other related fields. Examples of majors include but are not limited to: Visual arts: graphic arts, photography, sculpture, painting, sketching, etc. Performing arts: theater, music, dance, etc. Literary arts: poetry, novels, plays, short stories, etc. Other: Film, Architecture other art related studies

Students must be graduating from a high school located in Arapahoe County or be a resident of the City of Greenwood Village, Colorado. 

Criteria
Applicants will be judged using the following criteria. 

Portfolio/Repertoire - The portfolio/repertoire is consistently at a high level of work in the appropriate field. Emotional expression and risk are evident as well as a unique or original approach to the work.  The quality of the body of work inspires one and a variety of techniques are used skillfully and effectively. 

Professionalism- Presentation of the portfolio/repertoire as well as that of the entire application should be in the highest level when compared to a cohort age group.           

Presence in the School/Community - Activities, awards, performances, exhibits, tutoring and volunteering are important measures of a student’s dedication to making a positive difference through the arts. Reflected through one’s resume/vitae, these achievements should stand above one’s peers.

Potential for Future Fine Arts Involvement/Inspiration- Goals and aspirations for the future to pursue his/her chosen field with passion and commitment should be indicated through personal statements, and recommendations.


Scholarship Awards: Three $5,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Confirmation of acceptance from the college or art school you plan to attend must be submitted before the scholarship is awarded. Proof of full time enrollment is also required. 

Eligible Work:
1) Fine art, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, etc. 
2) Music, dance, theatrical performance, etc. 
3) Literature, including, but not limited to: short stories, poems, persuasive piece or an excerpt from a longer piece of writing.

Entry Details:
For 2D and 3D art, up to ten (10) images are allowed. You are encouraged to submit the maximum number of images. NOTE: If you are chosen as a finalist, you may be required to bring your original pieces to the Curtis Center for the Arts, 2349 East Orchard Road, Greenwood Village for the jurors to view. We will be in possession of your work for approximately one week in March 2022.  

For performances, up to five (5) audio and/or five (5) video submissions are allowed. NOTE: You MUST submit at least one video or audio clip so that the jurors can see as well as hear your performance. We encourage you to highlight a solo performance. 

For literature submissions, up to five (5) entries are allowed. The complete short story, poem or persuasive piece is required; excerpts are allowed for longer pieces. These should be uploaded as PDFs under the "Image" category. 

NOTE: In order to attach media to your application, you will first need to upload your media in the "My Portfolio" tab. 

A resume, and artists statement and at least one letter of recommendation is required; up to three are allowed and encouraged. These are uploaded in the application as PDF documents. 

****If your councilor of teacher would prefer not to provide your letter of reference to you directly, they can email the letter to Chris Stevens (cstevens@greenwoodvillage.com). If this is the case, please attach a note to your application that states that letter of reference were sent directly to us. We will make sure your letters get attached to your application.

Deadline: Monday, April 4th (11:59 p.m.). Late entries will not be accepted.
