OVERVIEW The Fort Worth Art Commission invites artists to submit qualifications for potential inclusion in the Fort Worth Public Art (FWPA) Pre-Qualified Public Artist List - the primary resource for artist selection for most City of Fort Worth public art projects. Examples of types of projects and budget ranges are: • New infrastructure projects, including integral and free-standing projects associated with bridges, traffic roundabouts, streetscapes and parks ($100,000 - $350,000) • New architectural projects, including integral projects ($65,000 - $200,000) • Urban Village streetscape projects ($50,000 - $60,000) • Community ID: Public Art in Neighborhoods projects – projects in neighborhood parks, existing community centers, branch libraries, or fire stations ($50,000 - $60,000) • Mural residency; Mural commissions on existing city buildings or walls ($15,000 - $30,000) • Design charettes; Public art plans for specific locations ($2,000 - $30,000) ARTIST ELIGIBILITY Must be 18 years of age to apply. Open to practicing artists working in any media who reside in the United States, the FWPA Pre-Qualified Public Artist List is divided into two categories based on residency and previous experience, as follows: • Emerging Public Artist List: Open ONLY to NORTH TEXAS-BASED artists residing within a 50-mile radius of Fort Worth working in any media. Previous public art or design team experience is preferred but not required. Artists must have an ability and desire to work collaboratively with other design professionals and project stakeholders. • Established Public Artist List: Open to artists based in the United States who work in any media and have successfully completed a public or private art commission with a budget of $100,000 or more. Texas-based artists must have completed a public or private art commission with a budget of $50,000 or more. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS All application materials must be submitted via callforentry.org. Required application materials include: • Letter of Interest: Describe how your qualifications match with the category (established or emerging) selected • Artist Statement: Describe your approach to working in the public realm • Resume: Describe your role in previous public art projects, if applicable • Images: Five (5) images of completed artworks • Image List: Include title of work, year of completion, dimensions, medium, location, budget amount and a brief description of the project • References: Indlude the name, organization, email address and phone number of 3 professional references and indicate your affiliation with each ARTIST SELECTION CRITERIA & PROCESS Applications will be pre-screened by FWPA staff for completeness and compliance with the RFQ. A Review Panel composed of an artist, and two arts professionals, one of whom is a current member of the Fort Worth Art Commission (FWAC) shall review the qualifications of each eligible artist. Artists shall be selected based on the aesthetic merit of past work and the eligibility criteria listed above. Artists selected for the Established Public Artist List must show evidence of past experience and success in creating public artworks in collaboration with architects, design teams and project stakeholders within budget criteria listed above. All applicants shall receive notification of the results via email. Within 30 days of notification, artists selected for the Pre-Qualified Public Artist List must submit a FWPA Registry form and a CD with 10 – 20 images of past work (including the 5 images submitted via CAFÉ) to Fort Worth Public Art at the address below for use in selection processes of individual projects. APPLICATION PROCESS GUIDELINES 1. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed. 2. Artists must be at least 18 years of age to apply. 3. Students are not eligible to apply. 4. Artists who are employees of the City of Fort Worth or the Arts Council of Fort Worth & Tarrant County and their spouses or domestic partners are not eligible to apply. 5. Artists who are current members of the Fort Worth Art Commission and their spouses or domestic partners are not eligible to apply. 6. Artist teams may make one joint application if they only wish to be considered for projects as a team. Alternatively, members of artist teams may submit qualifications separately and indicate in their Letter of Interest with whom they may wish to collaborate. 7. Artists included in the Pre-Qualified Public Art List are generally notified prior to being considered for specific projects in order to ascertain their interest and availability. 8. Artists selected for the Pre-Qualified Public Artist List shall remain on that list for a period of at least 2 years. 9. Inclusion in the Pre-Qualified Public Artist List does not guarantee a commission of artwork. QUESTIONS?
