Beginning in November of each year, DAC invites playwrights from around the world to submit original 10-Minute plays. The plays go through a tiered reading process (author names and hometowns are kept anonymous from the judges). The top plays will be performed at a free reading in late spring where the Grand Prize winner will be selected by a panel of judges, and the audience will select the People’s Choice Award. The 5-7 plays with the most votes will be fully produced and performed by local directors and actors at DAC’s Annual Festival in October.
Application Requirements
- Submission fee (non-refundable) of $12.50 USD per play.
- Each play should require two to four characters, and minimal props and costumes.
- Submissions must be in .docx or .pdf format.
- The play, exclusive of title and cast description pages, must be no more than ten pages.
- DO NOT PUT AUTHOR'S NAME, ADDRESS, OR ANY CONTACT INFORMATION ON ANY PAGE OF SCRIPT.
- Playwrights may submit more than one play.
Eligibility Criteria
Only original plays, never before produced or published, are eligible.
** If plays submitted are not in the required format, they will not be entered into the contest and the $12.50 entry fee is forfeited.
