Juror: Stan Chraminski
ABOUT THE ARTIST
"I have been painting since I graduated from Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey with many college sponsored courses and workshops ever since. In Seattle, Washington I belonged to the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters, and the Evergreen Artists Association where I served as President for two years before moving to Hawaii. With my move to Hawaii in 2015, I’ve specialized in Plein Aire, or outdoor painting, with the West Hawaii painters group. I’ve participated in many juried shows including several awards of merit. I regularly show at the Wailoa Center shows including Plein Aire, All Media, and Abstract Only. My website is Artbigisland.com.
As a juror, I will be looking for several elements:
1. Make me believe your work was painted outdoors in the sun and atmosphere.
2. Composition – are the shapes exciting? Is the work dynamic across the room and close-up.
3. Style – brush strokes, texture, and colors draw me in.
4. Emotion – do you make me feel the place you painted?
5. Subject- did you select wisely for maximum impact of the scene?
I look forward to seeing and judging all the great entries for the 2022 Plein Aire show. Send your best so we have a successful show."
