Call Description
SCORE (Southern California Open Regional Exhibitions) invites artists and designers to enter our juried In the Abstract virtual exhibit. The SFVACC seeks artists who can provide a well-rounded range of 2D and 3D abstract art. All submitted art will be juried using digital images (.JPGs) through CaFÉ www.callforentry.org. Video of art may accompany .JPGs upon entering.
Implicit to abstract art is the notion that the work of art exists in its own right, and not necessarily as a mirror of reality. -The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms
- Best of Show $800 – 1st Place $400 – 2nd Place $300 plus 4 Honorable Mentions
JUROR – Robert Burridge is a noted award-winning industrial designer who, after twenty-five years in the corporate world, focuses his life to painting every day. Burridge attributes his success to his education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, his stint as an adjunct professor at Cooper Union in New York City, and in 1966, his Fluxus art performances with Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Jim McWilliams and Charlotte Moorman. His work hangs in permanent collections of international embassies, corporate galleries and art colleges. His solo museum exhibitions received positive attention, so he was invited to exhibit his paintings at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival spotlighting Circus Arts in Washington, D.C. Burridge continues to paint and teach various abstract-themed workshops both live and on Zoom. www.robertburridge.com
