The Casa Bonita Art Show -   Mi Casa es Su Casa

NEXT Gallery is thrilled to host the 5th Annual Casa Bonita Art Show – Mi Casa es Su Casa. 

Casa Bonita is a 52,000 sq-ft restaurant in Lakewood, Colorado on West Colfax Avenue (deemed “the longest, wickedest street in America”). The restaurant offers up a 3-story waterfall, gunfights, gorilla chases, puppet shows, a haunted cave and much, much more.

The restaurant, which opened its doors in 1974, was recently saved from permanent closure. A community led campaign was a major player in the process. The “Mi Casa es Su Casa” show (“My House is Your House”) celebrates Casa Bonita as an important part of our collective history. It truly is our house. We are looking for art that tells the tale of Casa Bonita. What makes Casa Bonita part of our narrative? The fables, the facts, the fictions, the legends. Our goal is to create a visual “snapshot” of the Casa Bonita experience. This is a national juried call, and is open to artwork in all mediums. Cash prizes will be awarded – Best in show: $250, Second Place: $100, Third Place: $50, People’s Choice: $50

SELECTION

Submissions will be juried by Casa Bonita Art Show founder, Dolla B and Casa Bonita Aficionado, Andrew Novick 

NEXT Gallery is an artist owned and operated gallery whose mission is to promote art appreciation and education through community outreach. 

DEADLINE

The deadline to enter for consideration in this show is midnight (MST) on January 31, 2022. No late applications will be considered.

NOTIFICATION

Results of the judging will be emailed the week of January 31, 2022.

EXHIBITION DATES

Accepted work will be exhibited at NEXT Gallery from February 18 - March 6, 2022. 

Accepted artwork must be received by February 15, 2022. Works may be hand delivered to NEXT Gallery on February 15th unless prior arrangement has been made in advance, storage space is very limited. Mailed artwork must be received by February 15, 2022 and include return shipping information.

FEES

$30 entry fee for up to 3 art pieces/images. Entry fees may be paid by credit card through callforentry.org only, fees are non-refundable and do not guarantee acceptance into the show.

SPECIFICATIONS

Open to artwork in all mediums.

Accepted artwork must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition. 

SALES

Any artwork sold will incur a 30% commission. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance. Buyer will be charged sales tax for Lakewood area and buyer will be charged any applicable shipping fees. 

Purchased artwork must remain in the gallery until the exhibition closes, unless with prior permission and arrangement by NEXT Gallery.

Artists will be notified by email of any sales, and will receive payment for any sold works within one month of the close of the exhibition.

PICKUP

Unsold artwork must be picked up March 7, 2022 unless prior arrangements have been made. NEXT Gallery has limited storage space and any artwork left for more than 30 days will be considered property of NEXT Gallery. Mailed artwork will be returned the week of March 7, 2022.

Application Requirements

 Application Requirements:

submissions will be through Callforentry.org (www.callforentry.org).  Entries and credit card payment must be submitted on or before the  posted deadline, with no entries accepted after this date.

Upload requirements for image files:

• File format: JPEG only
• File dimensions: No smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side
• File resolution: 72 ppi/dpi (standard web resolution)
• File size: 5 MB maximum
• Image must be correctly oriented (vertical or horizontal)
• No digital enhancement is allowed
• Maximum of 3 photos per entry

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility:

All artwork must be original in concept and not copied from another artist's work. 

Only entries submitted online through callforentry.org will be considered. Do not contact the gallery to submit images or information about your application or to inquire about the status of your application.
