Contemporary Color  Online Exhibition

Color is among the most significant phenomena of both the natural and human world: it bears on our biology and survival, shapes our attitudes towards what we eat and drink, suffuses religious and political movements, and not least, goes to the very core of our artistic sensibilities. Color generates attraction and opposition, it marks, classifies, and symbolizes. It is an integral part of our shared visual language, extending to the beginning of art history. Site:Brooklyn invites artists, working across all mediums and methods, to submit work that centers, questions, analyzes, or makes use of color in their practice.

About the Juror: Chloe Wyma is the Associate Editor at Artforum International Magazine. Wyma’s writing has appeared in publications including Artforum, Bookforum, The New York Times Book Review, The Village Voice, The Art Newspaper, New York Magazine, Momus, Architectural Review, Dissent, Modern Painters, Art & Auction, and The Brooklyn Rail, where she also served is an Associate Editor. She is a 2018 recipient of The Creative Capital | Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant in Short-Form Writing and a doctoral candidate in art history at the CUNY Graduate Center.

About the Gallery: Site:Brooklyn Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting the current practice of contemporary artists.We are taking Site:Brooklyn online with a new series of interactive exhibitions. Our goal remains the same, to connect artists with an expert and diverse set of jurors through the open call format. Our new program focuses on online open call exhibitions, selected by a cast of new jurors, solo artist features, and spotlights.

Notification Letter: February 2, 2022
Online Exhibition: February 25, 2022 –March 25, 2022

Presentation:Once accepted, artists will be required to upload high-res photo files of their work.                                               

Sales/Commissions:
All artwork must be priced for sale.
Artwork must be available for sale during the exhibition and cannot be withdrawn before the end of the exhibit.
Artists will retain a 60% commission on all exhibition sales. The price represented on the artist entry form will be the sale price.

Entry Agreement:
With the submission of artwork into the “Contemporary Color” Exhibition, the artist agrees to all the terms and conditions set forth in this prospectus.

Application Requirements

Submissions and fees:
Only original works may be submitted. The fee is $26.00 for up to three (3) images, $10 for each additional image. If adding additional images please do so prior to check out.
All entries must be registered/received by January 24, 2022 11:59 PM MT
All entry fees are non-refundable.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility:
This is a juried exhibition for artists working in all media. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older.
