75th Annual Gilpin County Arts Association Show Diamond Jubilee

Over $3000 in cash awards, including a $500 Best of Show.

Awards are for 2D, 3D and Photography.

Since our submissions for mixed media, jewelry and 3D are very limited each year this category is combined as a 3D award ribbon and selections are made accordingly. 

Three first place awards in the amount of $400.00

Three second place awards in the amount of $300.00

Three third place awards in the amount of $200.00

Three honorable mentions in the amount of $100.00

And a Board President's Choice award in the amount of $100.00 cash.

The entry fee is $40 for current members of GCAA You will be sent a discount coupon code to apply for the discount at checkout. Contact the gallery for this code.  The entry fee for non-members is $50. Your entry fees will allow you to submit up to 3 images. If you only want to submit only 1 image please enter that image 3 times. There is an option to buy up to 3 additional images for submission.

When entering your submissions please select the correct category that your art falls under.

Presentation:

All 2D work MUST be delivered framed and ready to hang.

All wall art MUST have a wire hanging system installed. No saw tooth hangers. No Exceptions!

Fiber pieces must have a sleeve or provide hanging system. Framing must meet gallery quality standards; NO damaged frames will be accepted. Gallery wrapped canvases are acceptable if the edges are painted. The artist must give approval for the gallery to repair any work damaged during shipping at the artist’s expense. Pedestals will be provided, but if your piece requires a special mount, one must be supplied with the artwork.

 Eligibility for the 2022 - 75th Annual Juried Art Show: Open to artists in all 50 states. 

Only original works completed by the artist within the last 3 years are eligible. Work previously shown in GCAA Galleries is not eligible. Work from kits, or work executed in a class or workshop is not eligible. Paintings must be original, and if copied, only from photographs taken by the artist.  All jewelry entries must be at least 75% handmade by the artist. Entries in any media can be no larger than 60” in the longest dimension, and 3D pieces must be easily managed by the curator.

Submitting Entries for the 2022 - 75th Juried Show

You must submit entries online through Café at https://artist.callforentry.org

NOTE: The Gilpin County Arts Association no longer accepts entries that are mailed in.  All entries must be done through Café’ only. Café is an artist’s call for entry site. We suggest you familiarize yourself with their entry procedure prior to entering to make the process easier for you. Size all images correctly before entering.

Entry Images: Images must be jpeg files 72 dpi, 1200 pixels at the longest dimension and under 900K. Label image files using the first 3 letters of your last name + first initial of first name, and # of artwork, e.g.:  Tom Jones = jont-101, jont-102, etc. Artists are encouraged to keep high resolution images (300 dpi) for their own use and artists may be asked to provide those for publicity purposes or for display/sales on our website. The artist grants permission for any accepted images to be used for publicity purposes by GCAA.

 Number of Entries:

Each 2D artist and photographer may submit up to three entries per entry fee.

This also includes multimedia work.

There is an additional image fee that has been added as an option in the amount of $20.00 per image if you want to enter more than three pieces.

Each 3D, potter and jewelry artist may submit up to 6 entries as a body of work. Your six entries must be compiled into three or less photos. A second view of an entry is permissible and optional. A set of six jewelry or pottery items that constitute a set in one photo is considered one entry.  Please label your images correctly with you artist ID code.

Again the ID code is :( the first three letters of your last name followed by the first letter of your first name followed by 101, 102, and 103)

Show Tags:

On the back of each 2D or bottom of each 3D piece clearly mark your name, title, price,

ID # (e.g. “Tom Jones, My Clever Title, $300.00 jont-101”) a legible email address and phone numbers are required on your inventory sheet along with the art piece’s description and price. Please make sure your price matches the price that you submitted when entering your artwork on Café. The label price should also match on your inventory sheet. Prices may not be changed after submission.

Shipping Work:

Shipped paintings via USPS should be addressed to Gilpin County Arts Association in care of Michele Roussel PO Box 98 Central City, CO, 80427.

UPS or FedEx ship to 117 Eureka street Central City, CO 80427 with a paid return shipping label included.

Shipped work must arrive NO LATER than May 27th!!!

If you will need to have your unsold artwork shipped back at the end of the show please include a prepaid FedEx or UPS label with your shipment. Via postal service make arrangements with the gallery manager to return these items. This can be paid for via phone.

Artists are encouraged to purchase shipping insurance. GCAA is not liable for any damage during shipping. The artist agrees to pay for any reframing due to damaged work during shipping.

Sales:

All work must be for sale and remain on display for the duration of the show (unless sold) and will be insured while it hangs in the gallery for the entirety of the show. GCAA will take a 40% commission on all work sold and artists will receive 60% of the retail price. Artists will be paid for sales within 40 days of the end of show.

Liability: the utmost care will be taken in the handling of all artwork. Artwork is insured while at the gallery.

Important dates for GCAA 2022 Juried Show

Sunday April 17, 2022 is the deadline for entries on Café

During the days of April 18th – April 27th our jurors will make their selections.

Saturday April 30th The Juror’s notifications are emailed to the accepted artists via Café.

Friday May 27th is the deadline for all of the artwork deliveries of the accepted work to Washington Hall Gallery, 117 Eureka Street, Central City, CO. No exceptions.

Starting May 1st the times for in person deliveries are between 12:00 and 4:00 Monday through Sunday up until May 27th.                                                                                      

Saturday, June 11th is the opening reception and awards presentation. The event runs from 5:00 to 8:00

This 75th juried show will run from Saturday, June 11th through Saturday, August 20th

Juried show artwork pickup will be between 11am and 4pm August 20th through August 24th.

Any artwork left after the designated pick up dates will be deemed abandoned and will become property of the Gilpin Arts Association.

This is an important pick up schedule as our annual members’ show dates have changed in 2022
