Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's exhibition will be an ONLINE exhibition, running from May 14, 2022, through June 4, 2022. The exhibition will not be held at the gallery's location

 

Host Location:
This is an online exhibition. It will be hosted by the Lakeland Art Guild and will be viewable on the Lakeland Art Guild's website and YouTube. The exhibition will also be accessible through the Lakeland Art Guild’s Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook Page.  Artists who enter will receive an email with the specific links. Artists who enter will be invited to the Awards Announcement and Judges critique via Zoom.
 
ELIGIBILITY: The Lakeland Art Guild 50th Annual Melvin Art Exhibition is open to all artists working in the United States.  Up to three (3) works may be entered, works may be of any medium (except giclee’s, video, and performance).  All works must be original. Entries must have been completed within the last five years. Please do not enter any artwork that has previously won an award at a prior Melvin Gallery Art Exhibition event. It will not be accepted.

USE OF SELECTED WORKS:
In submitting work for consideration, all entrants give permission to the Lakeland Art Guild 50th Annual Melvin Gallery Art Exhibition to use images of selected works for promotional purposes.
 

Application Requirements

Application Requirements:

Artists ages 18 and over with residences in the United States are eligible. Membership with the Lakeland Art Guild is NOT required. 

Each artist may submit up to three (3) pieces of art.

The entry fee for 1-3 pieces is $40.00 for Non-Members and $30.00 for LAG Members with (Promo/Coupon Code). The entry fee is non-refundable. This can be paid through CaFE, or a check can be sent to: The Lakeland Art Guild, The 50th Annual Melvin Gallery Exhibition, 2607 Orleans Ave. Lakeland, FL 33803. Make checks payable to the Lakeland Art Guild.

Artwork that has won an award in a previous Melvin Gallery Art Exhibition is not eligible.

Artwork may be of any medium (except giclee, art reproduced on canvas, video, and performance).

All artworks must be original.

All artworks must be appropriate for the general public. The Lakeland Art Guild reserves the right to not accept work that may be deemed inappropriate.

All artworks must be the sole work and exclusive property of the submitting artist.

Entries must have been completed within the last five years.

This is a virtual exhibition.  The original physical art remains in the possession of the artist. All artworks listed for sale must be kept readily available.

Procedures and Details: 

  • Submission for this exhibition is handled exclusively through CaFE.  All submitted artwork must be uploaded to this site.  One to three pieces of artwork can be submitted. Artists who encounter technical difficulties can request help from CaFE staff at http://cafe@westaf.org. Questions related to the exhibit can be sent to Denise Settles via email, lakelandartguild.onlineshows@gmail.com.
  • It is very important that artists upload only one photo for each piece of art being submitted.  Please check that the artwork is properly oriented in the photo, that the frame or other peripheral objects are not included.  Attention should also be given if there is a glare, which is a common issue when photographing artwork.  The juror will select the Award Winners through these digital photos that are submitted.
  • CaFE has specific requirements regarding the file sizes of the photo submitted.  Follow their directions or contact their staff. In short photos cannot exceed 5MB and file dimensions should be 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side.

Notification: All entering artists will receive email notification containing further information and links when the CaFE deadline for submissions has passed.

Sales: Artists will have the option to list their artwork for sale during the show.  Sales will be transacted through the Lakeland Art Guild to the artist. Price the painting to include the frame and shipping. There is a 30% commission on all sales. The Lakeland Art Guild will transact all work that is listed for sale through its website during the show.  The artist is responsible for shipping artwork to the buyer. When a sale is received through the Lakeland Art Guild the artist will be notified. To receive payment from the Lakeland Art Guild the artist will need to confirm shipping.

If a piece is sold or the entrant no longer wishes to sell an entry, the entrant must notify the Lakeland Art Guild so the status can be changed. The Lakeland Art Guild receives a 30% commission for all sales that are result of the 50th Annual Melvin Gallery Art Exhibition Event. Commission fees will be automatically deducted from the sale.
